I am doing prep today for a colonoscopy tomorrow. Doing the split dose of Prepopik. I had the first 5 ounces around noon. I have the orange flavor - tastes like AirBorne, fizzy and pleasant. Followed by clear liquids of my choice. I had water, mint tea, coconut water, chicken broth. Took second dose around 6pm. More clear liquids. The first dose took 2 hours to work. From that point on, every time I drank liquids I'd have to visit the bathroom. I think the first dose cleared me out completely. The second dose has had no effect so far, even after drinking 40 ounces of clear liquids. I've had no nausea or side effects with either dose. Getting ready for bed now. I expect to be able to sleep normally. The procedure is at noon tomorrow. I can recommend this prep.

Hello again everyone. Just wanted to do an update. Well, DH was not able to keep the prep down at. all. He has rescheduled for next month. Dr. is going to try a different type of prep. DH is not the type to be afraid of procedures, he donates blood, & even had a colonoscopy 10 years ago. I'm a (currently unemployed) phlebotomist & I totally get that people have serious needle phobias. It might not be rational to those of us for who it is no big deal, but it's a serious, anxiety laden procedure for some. You have to have a lot of compassion with sensitive individuals like that. Heck, my irrational fear is flying so I'm a white-knuckle flyer, So, not everyone can physically & emotionally deal with every single thing thrown at them. I've seen a lot when I was the one drawing the blood. I was dx'd in July with CRVO.... central retinal vein occlusion that came out of nowhere. I lost some vision in my left eye & now I have to get injections IN MY EYE. Not fun, but I can do it. Now, if I had to go to the dentist and get a shot in my gums, you would see me running & screaming out of the dentist office. So, we all have our fears & phobias. LOL No one should be made to feel "less than" just because they fear a procedure--IT's NORMAL to not want to be poked & proded, imho. I've had 4 colonoscopies myself, so I kind of know the ropes. One of my preps was a breeze, & one other gag-inducing one--not so much. We also started earlier too, but he just couldn't get past the second step of liquid prep. On top of vomiting up the prep, he ended up with chills & fever & a horrific headache. It IS a shame that he will have to repeat this in a month, but we are hoping for a much more condusive (to his system--at least ) prep. To the poster wondering...He can't drink coffee or tea or any kind of carbonated drinks to begin with EXCEPT for Diet Coke, but did NOT drink that yesterday, due to the coloring. Everything needs to be clear as you mentioned. I had everything in place for him.... bottled water, jello, broth, popsicles, reading materials, juice with no pulp, extra TP, soothing wipes for a sore bottom, loose jogging pants for running to the commode (even a pair of Depends if needed) -- but even with the best-laid plans, when it came to keeping it down-- it just wasn't in the cards for him. I know the prep is a pain, but in my case during my second colonoscopy, 3 pre-cancerous polyps were removed & it may have saved my life. The small amount of discomfort for me was totally worth it. Kind of like having mammograms & pap smears etc.--not fun, but can be life-saving. Thanks again for your interest & all your thoughtful replies! Well there must be something for combined chemo and radiation. "Don't ask questions, as we don't have the answers" You must be proactive, not reactive. ASK,ASK.ASK. WHY,WHY,WHY??? I would not be doing a thing, without answers. Have you consulted a radiation oncologist? What chemo medication is being administered? Side effects? I have 3 folders full of my husbands info. Take everything to each Doctor OR whoever you see. Keep a notepad with ?'s and answers. I keep a chronological list of each Dr. visit and note down WEIGHT, BP etc. Keep a paper copy of EVERYTHING....BLOODWORK, TEST RESULTS. There has been many times a different Dr. has not had the newest results and you have them. Your Primary should be your biggest advocate. Ours would call others Doctors whilst we were there to get answers. Just my 2 cents.... sorry for the story. I have a Husband who is stubborn, but after 20 years he has said if it wasn't for me, he would probably be dead. Get those answers!!!! and good luck.

Thank You Kswl! I think the procedure is guided and is done through the rectom (?) I need to learn as much as I can between now and the post biopsy doctors visit. I will go with husband on that appointment armed with questions, husband asks very little questions. What I know now isn't much, two pea sized masses of some sort showed. My husband goes every year for a colonoscopy and all lower body /full body tests as his father had prostate cancer. Husbands PSi has slowly creeped up to just slightly over 3. The doc told husband it could be something else but with his family history we are trying to prepare ourselves. After biopsy I will message you for a direction of the latest reading material. The majority of info online is outdated in that many state that colon cancer is treated the same regardless of stage/grade. I do not think that is true these days (?). ETA: Now on to my and all fitness to keep us mentally and physically strong. I broke down and ordered the BBody food portion containers. They are only a couple of bucks so what the hay. Most of my life I had a high metabolism and could eat a lot of food, until I couldn't (now). I also bought some bands to use for the Pilates days. I really do not want to buy any extra equipment as I have just about everything somewhere in the storage rooms. I also have a library of 100's of workout DVD's and a few fav VHS's. My son told me to get with it with today's ways lol, hence the TV apps.
