I have been on Foxomax for about 9 months and am experiencing joint and muscle pain. Is there a substitute for Fosomax that will work as well in bringing down the cholesterol level?

dex... I didn't know fosomax was prescribed for anything other than to build up your bones. There are lots of other meds for bringing down cholesterol levels. I would suggest you review the intended function of the meds you're taking with your dr. or pharmacist.

Fosomax is for bone density and has very specific instructions on how to take it to avoid side effects (i.e. day of week, time of day, not to lie down after taking it, not to take within 30 minutes of any other meds, etc). I concur. Review all your meds and instructions with the doctor.

One of the common side effects of Fosomax can be muscle and joint pain. It is one of the medications used to increase bone density. I don't think it does anything for cholesterol. You need to let your doctor know about this. He/she may want to change the dosage or put you on something else.
