planter warts and hydrogen peroxide?

has anyone ever had any success with using hydrogen perioxide as a disinfectant to kill planters warts. I have a niece with 2 warts on the bottom of her foot. While I used it myself on my 3 year old son and it worked well, I was wondering if anyone else knew of this. I simply soaked the wart in guaze satuated with hydrogenperoxide from any store and then kept a bandaid over it which kept the wart moist with hydrogenperoxide. It was worked after 1 week.

The wart simply just faded and healed well.

Today I tried first application to my niece. I will keep you all posted of the results. She had complained about other wart removal methods which required the use of a chemical which burned and was irritating to her skin.

I will be curious to see if this works! I have one on each foot, and it is soooo painful! I have been using this new Compound W plantar wart freeze stuff, MANY times, and it has not helped. Please do let post back with the results.

My son had one for what seemed like forever. We tried various methods from home and at the doctor, (freezing, blistering liquid, Compound W...) One day my sister sent me 100 uses for vinegar - one of which was a cure for warts. IT WORKED!! A few months ago I found one on my heal and followed the same regime and it was gone it less than two weeks.

Here is what you need: white vinegar, liquid glycerin or any glycerin soap (I used neutrogena), razor blade.

1. Soak wart long enough to soften it.
2.Gently scrape at it with razor blade just to rough it up so vinegar will get into it. If it bleeds, it is no big deal, but you shouldn't purposely make it bleed.
3. Apply liquid glycerin or rub bar of soap over the wart. I have a tiny sample bar that I ONLY use for this purpose.
4. Dribble white vinegar onto it with cotton ball. Then carefully put some vinegar on the pad of a bandaid and place it on the wart.

I went throught this regime every nite, and during the day, I would put extra vinegar on it.

Yeah, it's tricky, because you have to estimate the stage of your seed's young roots to keep from damaging them by oxidation. 1% peroxide is fine to use as a fungal preventative with growing seedlings, but it won't stop a persistent mold once it's taken hold. 3% is great as an initial soil drench and as an aid to germination, but I would probably not water my little two leaf seedlings with 3% too much (especially if they were already dehydrated). So, imo, 3% peroxide is best before sprouting to prevent damping off and to soak seeds in initially to reduce infections and stimulater germination, but less so as a emergency fungicide. I'd suggest physical removal of as much mold as possible, then water thoroughly with 1% peroxide, and consider if the mold is from over-watering. In my experience, almost all container molds get negated by competing microorganisms if planted in the ground, but that's less true in some richer planter mixes and untrue if you just plant up a bigger container. Oh really? That's good to know. Another thing I thought was kind of the norm. I'd like to get something setup with ideally an LED light to get plants off to a good start in winter. After that there's not much I can do though -- just have a small area with limited sun exposure to grow in. I mean, I guess there are some things people do like mulch with reflective plastic to make the most of the sunlight? Do you think the same about pinching off other kinds of plants? Like I'm also growing some fuchsias and the conventional wisdom seems to be to pinch them off.

The ones I use are called Cryptolaemus montrouzieri, they're an Australian native ladybird beetle, I'm in south east Queensland, in Australia, but from what I understand the company export to other countries, below is a bit of the blurb from the company I get them from, Bugs for Bugs: Mealybug predator ""Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Cryptolaemus are Australian native ladybird beetles. They are very efficient natural enemies of mealybugs. Cryptolaemus have been exported to many other countries and are recognised as powerful predators of mealybugs worldwide. The adult beetle is about 4mm long with an orange head and black wing covers. The larvae grow to 13mm long and are covered in waxy filaments. The larvae look very much like mealybugs and are often confused with them. Adult female beetles lay up to ten eggs per day directly into mealybug eggmasses. They can lay up to 500 eggs in total. Adult beetles and young larvae feed on mealybug eggs and young stages. Large cryptolaemus larvae can also consume adult mealybugs. The life cycle takes from 4 to 7 weeks depending on temperature. I had a huge problem with mealy bug, especially root mealy bug, for a long time, tried all sorts of horrible solutions, I have over 500 potted plants just in my shade house and I was losing so many plants, more through the useless solutions than the mealy bug but these little cuties fixed them in a few weeks. That was about two years ago and mealy bug numbers are only now starting to build up again so they must survive on something else.

What I mean is if you are going to put it in 511 mix without bare-rooting you end up with a plant that has to now deal with two different mediums in its root zone. Not a good thing at all. You will end up in one of two situations: The inner core is always wet and the outer layer of 511 that is dry. This will lead to root rot. And if the old soil had fungus gnats or other pests they will have field day indoors. Or if the inner core dries up for some reason then it becomes hydrophobic (if it is peat based which is quite likely) and it will have a hard time wetting again. Water will find the fastest path in the outside 511 and the inner core will remain dry. This will lead to root death. So no matter what you choose the entire soil mix should be of similar type. The best evidence of above mismatch happens when inexperienced landscapers plant a tree in the yard. They dig a hole, put a plant with a tight root ball of a different mix, fill the hole with another soil mix, and call it done. In this case the plant is now faced with three different soil. In practice, I have seen countless trees die in such a situation. May be you are already familiar but here is a repot process. Water the plant well before you repot. Wait a day if you can before you start. Have your pot and mix ready. Mix should be just moist not dripping wet. For tropicals June is considered the best time. They are the strongest then. But I have done it in April through September. When you repot, keep the roots moist at all times. Have a bucket of water and/or mister ready. Work the soil out with a chopstick, a screwdriver, etc. Every few minutes mist or dunk in water to keep the roots happy. Citrus roots are a bit fragile and some will just break off. Just keep going.The plant will be OK. If it is hard to tease out the soil then use a hose at flat/jet setting and go very easy on the trigger. You want to wash the soil off gently. I usually mound up the soil in a upright cone form in the new pot. Then place the plant on top of the cone of soil and have the roots spread out like a big "skirt" nearly flat and hugging the cone. Add handful of mix at a time and use a chopstick to push around the roots. Work the centre first and then the outer edges. Do a jiggle test to make sure the plant does not move around too much. Once done water well, keep in a shaded, warm spot protected from wind. I prefer to do when it is cool (below 70F), calm and cloudy if I am doing it outdoors. Many times I have even left the plant in the bucket of water half bare-rooted overnight and finished the next day without any problems.

My husband uses Dr. Scholls Corn & Callous Remover. The active ingredient is salicylic acid. It usually takes 4 to 5 treatments. He cuts around it with a sharp knife and then he can pull the hardened part off. I normally put the solution on for him so we can hit the exact trouble spot, to avoid killing healthy tissue around the wart, and then we put a bandaid on it.

Personally, I don't recommend this method to anyone to treat warts yourself, but he said if he had to go to a doctor for treatment, he would be going all the time, as he has had these for years and they keep coming back. I would love to know if there is a permanent cure for them, perhaps surgical removal and then they don't return?

My problem with self treatment is how do you know the warts aren't maligant and that they truly are plantar warts? If are going to cut them out with a razor blade, be sure to sterilize the blade with a match or lighter before using it. I have never had these and I sympathize with all of you who do have them, as DH tells me that it feels like he has a hard rock in the bottom of his foot and when he walks, it is very painful.

I had a number of planter warts on my soles of my feet. Found a site which suggested the use of "Gorilla Glue". Using a corn pad to protect the good skin,apply Gorilla Glue. Put a band aid over, then water proof tape. The theory is to starve the wart of Oxygen thus killing it. Re- apply twice daily, Gorilla Glue forms a skin over the wart and each application keeps it Oxygen free. Gorilla Glue is available in specialist hardware stores (not in Bunnings).

Was looking to see if Hydrogen Peroxide would also work.
