Anti-pers/deod allergy all of a sudden?

I've tried numerous anti-pers/deod brands over the years (differing percentages of aluminumn zirconium t... & aluminum c...) without problems other than noted below.

When I one used recently it felt like it wore or slid off after a while & left me sticky (Lady's Speed Stick Clean Glide). So I bought Arid XXDry (Regular Scent) on the recommendation of a coworker.

The first time I used the Arid it made my skin burn & itch. Now I have a red very dry & large patch above & below my armpits.

I also had the burning & itching when I tried Tussy (unknown scent) years ago.

I tried Lady's Choice Coconut-Lime today & it made me burn & itch. I've used this before without problems.

Perhaps I haven't given my skin long enough to recover before trying a new anti-pers/deod?

Perhaps I now have an allergy to the aluminum..., depending on the percentage of active ingredient used or no matter the percentage, and/or the scent in anti-pers/deod?

Has anyone had this happen? What did you do?

May I suggest that you forget about deodorants for a while until your skin clears up? Use Shower to Showere which is a baking powder/talc powder that is quite effective in reducing odor and stopping some sweat. You may be having trouble with anti-persperants in general.

That's what I was wondering; am I all of a sudden allergic to any/all deod/anti-pers when I've never had a problem with some before.

I guess it's always possible since some people have never had allergies to latex & then BAM they do, & the same with people not having allergies to pollen, food, insects... & then all of a sudden they do.

I have no experience with trying to fix water hammer, but what I know about the subject came from irrigationtutorials.com and my intuition (mechanically inclined, degrees in engineering, etc). I wonder if the problem is with the hammer arrestor being at the back of the irrigation system rather than the front. Here's my line of thinking... Water is an incompressible fluid, so rather than picturing it as a continuous fluid, think of it in terms of "pieces" of water pushing each other through the pipe. When the irrigation valve suddenly closes, the first piece (we'll call it P1) still on the back side of the valve crashes into the valve. That piece of water was travelling at about 3-4 mph and suddenly came to a stop. Since the water has no where to go, it causes a pressure spike in the pipe that surrounds it. Now water piece P2 behind P1 crashes into P1. P2 causes a similar pressure spike in the pipe around it when it comes to a sudden stop. Then the same occurs with P3, P4, P5, P6... until we get to P1252145 back at the water hammer arrestor. Now P1252146, rather than crashing with a sudden stop into P1252145 partially pushes it's way into the "spring loaded wall" of the hammer arrestor. Now when piece P125247 and everything behind it all get cushioned by the hammer arrestor. In the meantime, water hammer and stress on the pipes has already occurred on all the pieces between P1 and P1252145, so you still hear a bit of the water hammer from all those pieces. Now if we move the arrestor closer to the valves, fewer "pieces" of water are involved in the "wreck" before the spring loaded cushion of the arrestor is reached and less water hammer is heard as a result. Is there still enough pipe at the end of the valve manifold for you to add another arrestor there?

Sugar is a carbohydrate, last I checked... Furthermore, beware of the commercially prepared sugar-free products. Most of them contain Sorbitol which is sugar alcohol (but doesn't contain alcohol). It is a carb and a different kind of sugar but still, it is sugar. Everything that ends with -ol is sugar alcohol and a big no-no for the diabetics. Another thing is, lactose-free milk. This thing is good for the lactose-intolerant folks. The process of getting rid of lactose is adding a special enzyme to the regular milk, so that the lactose (milk sugar) is converted into 2 simple sugars, one of them is glucose. Meaning that it's best for the diabetics to avoid lactose-free milk altogether. Someone has posted about a diet with 250 carbs a day for the diabetic; to me it sounds a bit extreme. My carbs a day are as follows: up to 4 carbs a meal and up to 2 carbs a snack. 3 meals and 3 snacks = 18 carbs, give or take. I was told I can have an occasional candy. So far so good.

Hello and thank you for sharing your experiences. Here I am having the same issue. Almost 5 months ago while I was on vocation with my family suddenly I felt a sudden weakness of both arms which it lasted for 30-40 seconds. Then in a month it happened again and again; randomly. I also have some difficulty breathing but non of them are related to each other. Shortness of breath happens mostly when I go to sleep and it goes away while the weakness of arms has no such a time or any other sign that helps me to figure out what and why i did go to the doctor and after many test and check ups no diagnosis. However my doctor said it could be from the stress Today I had two episodes in a row while I was working with a little boy ( I am an ABA provider) Lately though I have been thinking if it’s related to the heavy begs that I carry all day long since travel from Staten Island-Brooklyn-Manhattan and back ( using public transportation) Does anyone have any idea about what age am thinking about? Furthermore, today I read that Hypothyroidism must be one of the causes that might be connected to arm weakness

I wanted to give an update. Since this all happened, 2 weeks ago. I've been very strict with her and watching her like a hawk at the dog park. I gave her back the raw hides and she experienced no ill effects from that, that was a week ago. Then, just yesterday I decided it had been long enough to try giving her ONE of those Old Mother Hubbard treats, they are very small...like a puppy sized biscuit. Today she has diarrhea again! I think I found the culprit! Hopefully just the one tiny treat will just work its way through her system and she will be OK. I knew that I had just opened a brand new bag of these right before she got sick, she has been eating this same brand and variety for a couple years now. It was one of the only things she could eat without issues and she LOVED them. I don't know if they changed the recipe and added something that makes her bowels upset or if they are contaminated? I just contacted the company to explain what happened. I'll let you know how they handle this.

That is the way allergies work - they can appear out of the blue.

The solution is very simple: stop using commercial deodorant/anti-perspirants. I gave up deodorant years ago (this should be posted on the money saving forum) when a Thai friend of mine gave me a large alum crystal. It's a mineral salt and I've had the same $1.50 one for years. A health food store will sell you a more expensive one, but you can get the pure crystal much cheaper in an Asian market if you have one near you.

I found that I still perspired for a few weeks, though no odor, and then the perspiration disappeared. I also used it very successfully on a heat rash last summer. And guess what? All those TV commercials about no white residue? This is the original no residue deodorant. No perfumes, either, no chemicals at all.

You can look up the properties of alum on the web if you want to, but I recommend this highly. There's nothing allergenic in it and the cost savings are incredible because one will last for years before it's used up. I've even heard it's recommend for cancer patients undergoing radiation because of the lack of aluminum in it.

The problem with any kind of anti-persperant is that sometimes you need to sweat a little. It closes off the sweat glands so that you don't produce any. This isn't always good. Sometimes the body rebels. Unless you are in a very warm environment all the time, try getting by with just a deodorant. But get that skin cleared up first.

Well, I'd like the dry red patch to clear up first. But...

The other day thinking my problem might stem from the scented version I bought Equate version of fragrance-free Secret & Dove's fragrance-free for sensitive skin.

Then this morning when I couldn't stand feeling sticky anymore I tried the one from Dove, I think, & had no burning or itching.

I think I may have found the answer to my problem - stay away from the scented deod/anti-pers.

When I run out of these two, or if they do end up giving me problems before I run out, I'll look into the crystal.
