How dot you cut OG without killing yourself??
Comments (16)I have 50 plus large miscanthus mature grasses and the electric hedge shears work like a charm. i cut mine down as low as possible, leaving only an inch or two. 8 inches will be noticeable when the new growth comes up and theres all those dead grass spikes at the bottom. i started using the elec hedge shears when i was wishing i had a chainsaw and it occured to me that i DID have the next best thing. saves a lot of the bending and back ache too. if yours dont do well you may need to sharpen the blades. I will say that some muscle is still required but at least my poor hands arent hurting like crazy from hand clipping all of them. (i also have to clip ravenna grass, arundo donax variegata, panicums, indian grass, the fountain grasses and tons of smaller grasses as well) there is always the burning off method too but im afraid my crabby neighbor would love to turn me in!! the sheep shears dont look as if theyd be much better than hand clippers on the tall grasses when doing a ton of them. but think i might get some and try them out as regular pruners. they look kinda cool....See MoreHigh blood pressure medication side effects
Comments (12)She was taking a B complex for a while and she may have stopped. She said "the bottle says to take two but I thought more might be better so I take three" -- that's another thing that stands out because she is a retired RN and always was very sensible and conservatibe about taking medications. She was taking a multivitamin for a while, but may have stopped that too. My dad is a health fanatic and tends to nag and correct her when she starts to take vitamins -- "did you take your vitamins?"; "don't take those together...", etc. I told her to take them in private when he's not around, but I suspect she stopped taking them altogether. She makes such a big deal about eating a regular sized meal of moderate portions -- "I can't believe I ate all that!" etc. when everyone else ate the same amount or more. Or she passes around her plate at the table at social functions to share her food, saying how full she already is and "I can't eat all this food!" when everyone else is enjoying their full plate (how do I politely stop her from passing around her plate like that? I wish she would just stop eating and not say anything to bring attention to herself). I don't understand what that's all about, but I think if she is so full with half a plate of food when she hasn't eaten for hours, then she is probably undereating (dieting) and her metabolism has slowed down. But whatever I say will go in one ear and out the other -- especially now that she has successfully lost weight and is thinner than ever. I don't know if she'll ever let any of us do anything for her unless she is totally helpless. Jen...See MoreSide effects from a new med
Comments (8)Thanks Ravencajun for the encouragement! I have read all there is on the web about this drug. I knew how serious it is and the dangers associated with taking it. I have been getting blood work every 2 weeks for 6 months and just yesterday was told I could go to every 2 months! YEA! I already take lots of vitamins, the B's and D3 every day. I also take 1000mg of Folic Acid the day I take the 5 pills and then 800mg a day. My Dermo has it all covered...LOL I have always suffered from headaches so I figured that was a weakness of mine and it was just targeted. I take a low dose and for that I am thankful. On a good note it has helped my psoriatic arthritis a lot! And the arthritis in my neck that was awful...it is manageable now! It is an affordable drug, a lot cheaper than the Enbrel he wanted me to take. Enbrel is 1000 dollars a month for me to take it...no way under the sun can I afford that! So, Methotrexate was a better choice, plus its been around a lot longer and I was told it is safer. Its just these last 2 weeks I have felt bad...and I don't like that! OH! And the pharmacist told me to drink a lot of water during the day and that will help also. It will help flush out the kidneys and a lot of his clients have told him that it just makes them feel better. Luckily I drink lots of water every day and it is no problem. But my elbow...poor ole thing! It just plain hurts! Using it is hard...I tried Icy Hot but I have a raw patch of psoriasis that is healing and forgot about it...Oh my! The burning...LOL And my cat thinks Icy Hot is a mating call or something! She goes crazy when she smells wintergreen! So funny. Thanks RavenCajun...I do feel a wee bit better now :o) Deb...See MoreAllegra D side effects
Comments (19)Ravencajun, I am so sorry that you had that bad experience. The doctor told me to get Afrin because it helps with the nosebleed. I use it as directed, only when my nose is bleeding. It helps to slow down the flow of blood. What I don't enjoy is standing over the bathroom sink watching my blood run down the sink in a river. That scares the bejeesus out of me and makes me feel weak in the knees. Worse is trying to tilt my head back because I gag on the blood that goes down my throat. I spray with Afrin and put the nose clamp on for an hour to stop it. I'm really not a nasal spray person, I understand the risk of nasal spray addictions and usually only use saline spray or very occasionally Flonase. The first thing that happened when I got into Urgent Care was that they sprayed my nasal passages with oxymetazoline hydrochloride to try to stop the bleeding that had at that time been going on for 6 hours and was really frightening my husband and me. We were afraid that I was going to bleed to death. I promise that once this now intermittent bleeding stops, I will throw out the Afrin, I'm only using it when the bleed kicks up. Sometimes, just showering or slipping a clean shirt on is causing my nose to bleed. It starts bleeding when I am asleep. It's scary to me since I've never experienced this in the past. It is really hard to not blow the clots from my nose, but I don't dare....See Moremarilou
