cure for geographic tongue!!! hooooray!!! i found it!!!!!!
Comments (55)There is so much info on the internet and none of it seems to be right or perfect. They say GT is not contagious, and I know it's not, but my experience has been weird. My first encounter with GT was my daughter at 9 months old. It got worse over time and took me months to realize it was GT. Then 6 months later I STARTED SEEING GT ON MY OWN TONGUE for the first time in my life at 32 years old. That freaked me out. For both of us it has been coming and going for 2 years since then. I even saw a patch on my four year old's tongue once around the time that my GT started and then it never came back. They say its not usually painful, but I feel it starting and it hurts when it spreads. My daughter gets them worse on the side of her tongue when teething and I think mine is worse with carbs and sugar. That makes me think its an immune response, but why am I just getting this now after my daughter. Ugh. I may try the ECHINACEA. GT is sooo annoying and it is a big deal even if its not "serious" because of quality of life....See MoreBest product for chapped lips??
Comments (26)I hate Blistex and Chapstick and Burt's Bees and every other lipbalm I've ever tried. The only thing that works for me is Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Butter (Dark Chocolate & Peppermint flavor). It tastes great, looks amazing (people always think I'm wearing lipstick, even though it's clear), and works beautifully. If my lips are in the state you describe, all I have to do is put some on before bed, and when I wake up, my lips are perfectly moisturized. I love it to the point that I buy 10-15 of them when I see them; out here, very few stores have it, but I can sometimes find it at Walgreen's. In the Midwest, Meijer's usually has it. So does drugstore.com. See below. Good luck! Here is a link that might be useful: Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Butter (Dark Chocolate & Peppermint flavor)...See MoreHi guys ! Comments (13)Thanks tami but I've called around the health food stores in my area and they don't have it. I read about it online as a way to counter the side effects of Clindamycin. I don't even know if it works or not but I read good things about it. Guys, this stuff sounds like poison. Read the discussion about it in the link below. There are other discussion boards about it. Some people reported that the side effects came after they stopped taking it and lasted years. So far I know to help prevent side effects is to not lie down after taking it or it can come up and burn the throat, Probiotics may help. There most likely be projectile diarrhea occurring many times a day and maybe a blistering skin rash. I am relieved to hear that mad_about_mickey took it with no big problems. ***This antibiotic carries an FDA Black Box Warning on it. This antibiotic is to be taken as a "last resort" when others have failed. People can die from taking it. Clindamycin is for for certain hard-to-treat infections, but it will also disrupt the ecology of the digestive tract. This allows the dangerous bacteria called Clostridium difficile to take over. C diff has developed resistance to common antibiotics and can be hard to cure hence the need for Flagyl which may or may not work to clear it up. Seriously you may want to read this stuff. You never know if you would suddenly get a tooth infection and be handed a prescription for this stuff. You want to be fully informed about it when discussing it with your doctor. I never heard of the Clindamycin before this and I try to keep myself well informed about general health care. I must have missed this in my readings. Here is a link that might be useful: Awful....See MoreYeast question
Comments (6)What allows yeast to grow to abnormal amounts on the skin and ears, or other parts of the body is due to an off pH balance. An ear canal that is irritated from food or airborne allergies the dog starts scratching bacteria gets in with ear wax then attracts yeast spores to germinate. This whole process usually starts with allergies either atopy or food and until you get to the cause it usually becomes a vicious cycle. First you need to have the ear debris cultured, apply the meds given than try and work on the cause. From a diet perspective which is also the easiest fix is to try eliminating as may grains from the diet as possible starting with wheat. In fact finding a grainless diet is the most productive with ruling out food allergies. Second is atopy reasons which is the hardest to fix. Dogs that have allergies to grasses, pollens, molds etc. need to avoid these things as best possible and need some xtra care in treating the problems as well. Antihistamines, fish oil, desensitizing treatments are all that's available but not all work. When ever I am helping with a yeast problem I always try the diet route first and many times that's all it takes, but there are alot of hard core atopy allergies that require more treatments. Just remember not all ear problems are yeast and not all are bacterial, sometimes they are one or the other many times both and need to be cultured to treat both correctly....See Moreamicus
