In mid 60s - droplets of blood in bowl

(sorry to be so "graphic"..)

Now, I am worried since an acquaintance has just been diagnosed with uterine cancer after ignoring spotting (she is not menopausal, as I, of course, am)

Going for gyno exam - although just went in October and was fine.

Has anyone experienced "droplets" - it's not an UTI - as I quickly sent in a sample that day and was clear re: bladder

I am a worrier - not liking this.... Thanks

Hi! I think I'm in the same situation as you. Had bleeding for a week, also the urge to urninate constantly. Had a pap test last week and also ultra sound test done and blood work. My pap test came in the mail and it came back okay, went to my geni and she daid she wants a d& c in 2 weeks ,thinks possibly I have cancer there. I thought the bleeding was from having a bladder infection, the dr. said any bleeding is not normal. I'm trying not to worry but I'm so worried, just about nuts. I'm 63 soon to be 64.. I just lost my my husband to cancer and hope it is not going to happen to me.

I am also scared. alanna - let me know what is going on - I don't go to gyno until next week - can't get sooner appt. but I am sure he will recommend D&C also. I have back pain (another symptom) but then I garden a lot and so I never know where it comes from.

Did you bleed a lot? (Not that it matters, we shouldn't bleed at all at our age)

Hello, and Happy Wednesday! We have had a decidedly odd winter. Little snow, lots of rain, freezing and thawing and freezing and thawing....All of our roads, laneways and walks are covered with ice, making walking extremely hazardous. I really notice it here in this subdivision as most of the residents are retirees. Many of them go south for the winter so half the houses are empty. It is quite eerie to look out and not see a soul, and on really sunny days, like today, everything is blindingly shiny. I enjoyed reading over the old thread that appeared today. I think that was "before my time", although I see many familiar names there, some that I don't see here now as many now prefer FB. Waiting for my seeds to arrive in the mail. I usually manage to hold myself in check until March break, as otherwise my plants are too big by the time our frost is gone, usually by mid-May. I am wondering if this year we might have a longer season, as the winter has been so weird. Pretty quiet here, athough we have been very occupied as TCS is having assessments done and DS has had an accident at work. DS is not terribly injured but is very uncomfortable right now, and of course, is unable to work. No work = no $, so he is stressed. We will assist if necessary. I am still very occupied with painting the frou-frou trim in DD's house. It will take many many days to finish it, but it will look great when done. Due to her work schedule and her location over an hour away, I will be spending about three days each month until spring getting this done. She absolutely cannot paint the picky stuff - too impatient, too , well, sloppy kind of...Anyway, a project that I am enjoying. Just touching base, off to address my to-do list for today. I am so jealous of thos early flowers I see here!! Cheers, Julie

Things are busy here and things are changing. The land I am growing on is being sold, so soon I'll be split between two locations. The new location is bigger, 4.5 acres, so I'm happy. I don't have a big tractor so I'm going to hire someone to plow and disc it the first time. I am sticking with my 50-share CSA plan, but now I am going to bump up the Fall garden to 1.5 acres and plant another half acre for a Winter market garden(hopefully I will have great markets like you Jay). I have a good location so I'm thinking of setting up a market at my garden instead of selling somewhere. What do you think? At the current location, I'm pretty much just harvesting, putting shares together, and trying to keep the insects under control. I did one last weeding and put a heavy layer of mulch on the beds last week in preparation for Summer. I planted 200 sweet potato plants a couple days before I found out about the plans to sell the land. Hopefully development won't begin until late Fall. The cool season stuff is about finished, and all of the warm-season crops are being harvested except, Okra, watermelons, cantaloupes, and cowpeas. I started my peppers really early this year and it paid off. I'm picking every type of pepper except for the habaneros and Red Marconis. I've already ordered some Winter squashes, melons, cucumbers, and summers squashes for the Fall and have seeded peppers, eggplants, and tomatoes. What type of Fall tomatoes have been your best? I started a lot of cherries because they are fast and set fruit good in the heat. I also started a lot of Early Wonder, Kimberly, and Fla 91 as well as a few early and mid-season heirlooms. I plan on leaving the cherries uncovered. With the rest I am going to use 20 ft pvc to make 10 ft-wide high tunnels covered with greenhouse plastic once lows dip into the 50's. Pete

raenjapan: hmm, interesting thought on the pantry door. do you know if you can stop them in any position or do they always swing closed. i'm having visions of walking into the pantry and having the door swing shut behind me. i'll have to think on it. napagirl: i'll go scour the FKB islands and see if i can find the sink you're talking about. i think moving the sink might make sense from a better use of the prep space, and maybe even a better source to fill pots from for the stove, etc. would it make a difference if i said we're considering making it the location of the filtered water, so people might be coming to that end of the island to fill a cup frequently? i think your point about the 42 b.i. being 'equivalent' to the space of a 36" standard is a great one. we have a 36" french door standard in our current place now, and the thing i run out of most often is actually freezer space. but i think i may end up with a small chest deep freeze out in the garage. we'll see. in the mean time i'll add in the bev. fridge to the sketch-up. my builder will probably tell me i can't afford it ;p. thanks for the picture of the boot bench, i'll add it to my file. celticmoon: yup, the 'new' layout measures 12' 4" across by 15' 1" deep, not including those bump outs. 2' 4" of that 15' 1" would be the depth on the fridge and oven stack. i hear you on the oven/micro stack, DH will definitely have some things to consider there as a) he's the one who's jonesing on the advantium and wants that to be not under-counter and b) he's the baker. as far as the dining room table goes, i think it will be ok. it will normally probably be in whatever the smallest configuration is and i'll offset it a little from the center of the room if needed. the big opening on the left of the dining is the great room, so the plan has always been to flip the dining table into the lenthwise direction extending into the great room when we're entertaining large groups and the dining table is fully extended. since a dining set is one of the few pieces of new furniture i'm planning on getting for the new house (i'm tired of my very functional but very 'meh' block top hand-me-down), so i'll just see if i can't find something a tiny bit narrower too. several of the farm/harvest trestle tables i've been eyeing are in the 38-40" width. thank you all so much again and i'll eagerly read anyone else's thoughts, layout ideas and opinions! happy holidays to those celebrating, lori

Don't hear 'dot and carry' used much over here these days possibly because it is not considered politically correct or in good taste to draw attention to the misfortunes of others, although this doesn't seem to apply to parts of Continental Europe. OT, but a TV travel show once did an item on the difficulty of using public transport when incapacitated by a broken leg. A reporter was fitted up with a plaster cast and sent to France and Spain to see how he did. In both countries he was the source of endless mirth as he hobbled along, with many members of the public being too doubled up with laughter at his plight to offer help. In case this gives the impression that we in the UK are paragons of virtue and kindliness, the same TV show arranged for a wheel-chair-bound woman to test out accessibility of hotels. Several were so impossible to get into she had to return with a 'helper' the following day. Once they finally reached the reception desk the manager welcomed them with "We saw you trying to get in here yesterday" .. :-( I thought a roadster was the old name for an open car?

not sure if I used the right phrase - I am POSTmenopause - not "menopausal" - (Obviously in my 60s) but just wanted to clear that up if I used the wrong word.

Going to have a D& C on May 9th and then we'll see from there, I bleed everyday for a week, no cramps but enough to make me worry and to make the appointment to see the dr. I didn't tell my daughter only my girlfriend about the bleeding andd I started back doing my home parties and I didn't want to cancel after my friend the hostess worked so hard to have my first P.Chef party for me. Are u still bleeding ? I'm not and I hope I'm worrying for nothing. I do have hemmroids but I don't think that is this. Well got to hope for the best and I don't have hospitalization .Keep in touch. Some years ago when I was about 50 I had blood on tissue, not a lot but daily. I stopped drinking sodas & it stopped. Yrs later I thought the Pepsi smelled so good,at a party, so I poured about an inch in a glass & drank it. Same aching, cement bags around my waist feeling & blood on tissue. So I discovered once damaged it does not heal or whatever. So then I found out my Bro. had every test in the book & dr. could not find out what was wrong. I called him & asked him what was going on. He said blood in urine. I told him, cut out sodas, I mean all of them, no chocolate Hanson's, Coke, Pepsi, orange, 7-Up etc. It all has same effect- causes you to bleed. The acid is sodas is also what damages bones. So bro & I have been free from blood in urine for several yrs now. So if you get checked out & they can't find anything like bro's Dr. did, could be what you are drinking! We did an experiment in college taking rusty nails & putting them in Coke, cleaned them up really nice. You can imagine what it does to your guts! It is hard to give up tho but if you get scared enough you can do it. Plus that pain is not fun.

I have had blood in my urine a couple of times this spring caused by digging in the garden and carrying bags of soil or heavy mulch. Needless to say I don't do heavy lifting or use a shovel anymore my research said most blood in urine is from straining, but it also said get it checked to be sure. I had a test and it was fine. The hard work also raises my BP into the stroke zone. So now I have a good excuse to be lazy. I hope all goes well for you ladies.

Okay - well, here's my story:

Years ago, I did have blood in my urine (along with protein) - it was Membranous glomerulonephritis...It resolved itself - I am now in perfect health.

I had a pelvic ultrasound with the problem that started this thread. I am 100% fine but now I am waiting to hear how alanna did with her D&C

PS I have had maybe ONE soda in my life... I hate the bubbles, can't even drink champagne... I eat healthy so when I got the kidney problem it was out of nowhere. The doctor said it was idiopathic - no real reason why I spilled protein and blood - but now... NOT! :0)

I don't think the doctors are right about healthy diet especially regarding seniors. I think it is more about genes than diet. When my Mom was in her 70's my sisters were nagging her to eat healthy, no sweets. I took Mom to the doctor and told him about the "nagging" and he looked at my Mom and said, "you can eat anything you want. You are no longer building strong bones or body, eat anything you want and enjoy." I really believe eating a well balanced meal no matter your age and everything in moderation is the best anyone of any age can do. Mom died at the age of 97 with high cholesterol, high blood pressure and numerous other problems which didn't hurt her in the long run. She was at the point where she wanted to die. My sisters took away all of her meds and she lived another 2 years.
