Yeah, I have a flea allergic dog for whom one bite costs me plenty in antibiotics and steroids because he tears himself up. Plus we have *terrible* tick-born diseases here, rocky mountain spotted fever and ehlrichia mostly, and having had RMSF myself I would NEVER consider not protecting my dogs. I have seriously considered using frontline on myself too, but saved it for the dogs. The way frontline kills fleas and ticks is that it acts on a neurotransmitter in insects that mammals do not have. It is not "so strong" that it kills fleas and ticks for a month, it is so persistent in the hair coat and sebaceous glands that it doesn't get washed off. Frontline is NOT systemically absorbed by the dog or cat (it only collects in the sebaceous glands and then the hair), and even if it were it would have no effect because dogs and cats do not have the neurotransmitter upon which frontline acts. Bathing an animal has no residual effect as far as preventing fleas from jumping right back on. And no shampoo can kill ticks. Flea shampoos are generally pyrethrins which are almost useless in killing fleas, are completely useless in killing ticks, but have been quite effective in killing cats. I too firmly believe that everyone should have their opinion, but the opinion should be based on facts, not conjecture or rumor.

I know it's risky ordering online and I think some companies are scammers. I have 7 cats and wanted a two months supply which cost $55 for three doses at Petsmart and I ordered it for $93 for 12 doses. The stuff is made in France..Merial company but other countries don't charge as much. Something like seniors going to Canada for meds. This last dose I got came from New Zealand. It appears to be the real thing but I guess you'd have to take it to a lab and have in analyzed. MAAK has really bad consumers complaints which I only read after the fact. This other company had good feedback.

BEWARE OF Petsuppliesnet.com, I purchased Advantage for my cats and at the low price I purchased several boxes seeing as I have three cats. The website appear legit as mentioned above and the picture was the same as the US version (along with weight specs), but upon receipt of the Advantage, the weight, active componenets, etc were all in metric. The product was in fact from Austria. I immediately contacted the vendor to get a return number, package the items back up and mailed them back. Now they claim they never received the return and I am having to battle it with my credit card. BEWARE OF THIS DIRTY COMPANY THAT LIES AND CHEATS!

I agree with Rebecca, those pieces look far too large. If there are no suitable products for you to buy locally and you're looking for an online source, some members on this forum (including myself) buy Zoomed ReptiBark, which can be bought online through Amazon or Chewy (cheaper).
