WOW.. This is the SAME thing our SON has!!! He had it for about 2 days we took him to the DR. His Ped had no idea what it was, they only thought VERY dry skin. The Ped had us give him anti-itch med over the counter(sorry, can't think of the name) and rub Eurechin cream on him. We did that for 2 days and it did not get better as a matter of fact it got worse. We took him to the hosipital per our Ped. The ER doc stated it was exima (SP?) and gave him a shot of Steriods. That help him a lot and cleared up in a matter of hours. However 3 days later it came back. It was all over his chest, legs, ears, everywhere. We took him back to his Ped and she prescribed Steriods and a anit itch liquid. It cleared up by that night. We also had the Ped draw blood and we are having him tested for allergies, i.e. Milk, Eggs, etc. I hope this helps others. PS. Anyway, I had no idea to check adrenal function when (preferably before, actually) going on Thyroid (similar to Armour). The doctors are supposed to do this, but they do not unless the patient has a problem. I had a huge problem as I raised my Armour.. I kept getting more hypothyroid and my doctor kept raising my Armour. I almost ended up agoraphobic, I would get so freaked out in a traffic jam or even driving though a row of trees! It did a number on my mental well-being, I had major brain-fog, swollen legs/feet and terrible constipation. All due to low cortisol and probably a high reverse T3... things my doctor never checked. My blood was FULL of thryoid hormone but it wasn't getting into my cells. I'm doing better now (not great) and it's only due to my own research. I frequent the forums mentioned above and both are very helpful. I also just bought the "Stop The Thyroid Madness" book and am really impressed so far. Lots more info here than on the website.

MSN news had a slide show this morning of what might trigger psoriasis: blood-pressure medications !! It's the binder/filler ingredients in pills, such as magnesium stearate which is the culprit. With my 3-years hand rash I finally found the culprit besides my hard-well water: It's magnesium stearate coating on pills, also a component in Nature-Made magnesium pills, and a component in Nature-Made vitamin D tablets. An amazon customer reported that magnesium stearate in Align probiotic pill caused bad rash, so I stopped my magnesium pills ... and no more rash !! I'm taking magnesium oxide powder, which doesn't have the magnesium stearate coating .. so far zero problems, zero rash with magnesium oxide. That's why a few Amazon customers complained about magnesium stearate as the coating/binder ingredient in pills. When I bought my Duet in 2008, my 17 yo son complained about itching. I had researched Consumer Reports and bought the top-rated HE detergent at that time. Back to research--here on the Laundry Forum--and heard about Charlie's Soap. Bought the powder, re-washed all his clothes in Charlie's. His comment, "This is soft." Hmm. 17 yo son never commented about how "soft" his t-shirts were, before. So, I have used Charlie's powder, no fabric softener, ever since. BUT my 93 yo MIL lives with us and stains are a problem. So I'm experimenting, because she has a helper who comes in and does her laundry. Stain treatments often get missed. I bought Dropps, hated the scent. Complained to the company--and am very impressed at their customer service, because they sent unscented samples ASAP. Persil was on sale, bought the ProClean Original--OVERSUDSING!!! I need a detergent that works well on food stains, doesn't need fabric softeners, doesn't require pre-treatment, is EASY for health care helper to use without special directions. Her laundry is done in old-fashioned top loader. Suggestions?
