Thanks, still have to design and build/have built medicine cabinet and storage cabinet over toilet, paint edging for one edge of tile, redo window sill (too wide now that tile is up), paint door trim and door, install granite, faucet, sink, drawers and handles... Well, phoned CS this morning, she asked "Did you clean the walls first" (slight language barrier as think she must be French LOL), "of course" I replied. Thinking aha, that's probably what it was. DH installed glass when I was away, and I'm pretty darn sure he would NOT have cleaned it off before he applied the seal (comes with very high bond tape). So, not sure how we will address the seal on the stationary glass, we're thinking somehow heat it up (maybe with hair dryer) and try and reseal it... They will be sending out new seals via FedExpress (hopefully today), but DH wants to try using the heating up method to get these current ones to reseal, and keep the new ones as back-ups. They seem pretty securely fastened today... Dreaming, the bottom shelf is a piece of our granite 'Aran Creme', and the back is a stone mosaic, probably limestone or travertine marble. We will use the same mosaic as backsplash for the vanity along with matching marble pencil liners for edging, still have to decide how high to go...

lsoh, because I don't know your Dad's therapist full thinking on this matter I will just relate some of my recent personal experiences. Due to an accident I had a cast on my lower leg for six weeks and still will not have full mobility for another 8 weeks. While in the cast I needed to have my leg elevated at all times. This added complications, in addition to dealing with keeping the cast dry, when showering. During this time I have had occasion to use both a small (30x36) shower with a step over curb and a large (54x60) roll in shower with grab bars and an adjustable shower on a slide bar. The first thing I noticed about the large shower is that while it was great because of all the special grab bars, etc., it would have been impossibly big without those special fittings. In both showers I used a very inexpensive plastic shower seat (I think it cost around $30) that was light weight, easy to move, easy to clean, and most importantly easy to position in different ways. Because I had to keep my foot elevated I just used an 18" high plastic waste basket turned up-side-down until the cast was removed. After that I used a big plastic tupperware bowl turned up-side-down to make it easier to shave and wash. Neither of these solutions was particularly elegant but did have the advantage of being cheap, easy to use, and easy to clean. This experience has led me to believe that built-in shower seats or foot rests for people with mobility problems may not always be the best solution. I didn't always position the plastic seat in the same way and I'm sure someone of a different size or with a different issue would have wanted the seat placed differently. Particularly in thinking about having a foot rest to the side rather than to the front would have been problematic for me. So, as I said, this is just my experience, not a professional opinion but I hope it helps.

If you can, turn it over and see how the mechanism is designed, maybe it needs some wd 40 or something on the moving parts, or maybe the cable is loose or broken. If you can, get ahold of the manufacturer and maybe they have a solution.

I don't have much hair on my legs anymore either...must be an age thing... But no one ever see's my legs since I wear compression stockings. (from the first thing after my shower till I go to bed at night...) I don't shave them until the hair makes it feel itchy.. And since I've had all those rashes I've been afraid to. So it is itch time..lol patti
