There's two meanings of "organic" being intermingled and confusing the issues, I think, harmonyp. Whether or not something is grown "organically" (a cultural movement based on sometimes questionable premises, in this ecologist's opinion) has nothing to do with whether or not it is an organic form of nitrogen (i.e., nitrogen as part of a large organic molecule that breaks apart slowly into plant-usable forms of nitrogen). Nitrate and ammonium, which are inorganic, ionic compounds, are considered the plant-usable forms of nitrogen, although this view is being modified as more and more evidence piles up for plants sometimes using organic forms of nitrogen directly. As opposed to nitrogen in large organic molecules, the inorganic forms of nitrogen, provided en masse by synthetic/manufactured fertilizers, are highly mobile in the environment. If they aren't taken up immediately by the plant, they readily move into waterways or the atmosphere where the excess becomes a problem. So, probability of over-application is the main issue, first-order, not the form of nitrogen. Don't use excessive amounts of synthetic fertilizers and it's not a problem. Over-application of synthetic fertilizer by rose gardeners would be less than a pittance, anyway; it's large-scale use of excessive amounts of synthetics in big agriculture that is of concern (plus concomitant doubling of "in-play" nitrogen in ecosystems due to the need to feed exponentially-growing human populations, but THAT problem is second-order and beyond...). My preference for alfalfa lies in it being an organic molecule form that makes nitrogen slowly available over a long period of time, having other benefits for the soil, and posing less potential for application of excessive amounts. It is cheap, easy to obtain and use, and my roses look fine to me. I am too lazy and busy to keep track of multiple applications and timing required for synthetic fertilizers over the growing season. So, win-win on a number of fronts; who could complain? As a consultant in restoration ecology, I'm actually a big fan of Roundup. It's an important tool-of-the-trade, though usually considered only after non-chemical means are considered and rejected.

It's the other way around, honey bees are running off our native bees by pest & disease,..just heard this on the radio the other day. European honey bees are a fairly new introduced species to north America in geological terms, we now find out that it can be detrimental to native bees. CharlieBoring is trying hard and should be congratulated for hes effort in saving bees. Unfortunalty, our human interference, mostly by overpopulation and greed, paving over gazillions of square meter every day and kill all weed and dandelion for a "green" lawn. Also, HUGE farmers with monoculture are contributing big time for loss of all kinds of insects etc. We NEED to establish land in a natural state where many native bees, including bumbles can have their nest in the ground, trees can grow freely without cutting down, this will help nature allot. Land need to be set aside with no or minimal traffic access. Here a leaf cutter bee cleaning house on a old rotten tree. It will also help to plant all kinds of flowers, I'm also focusing allot on flowering shrubs & trees which flower at different stages in the season. Really sorry to hear of the loss of your cat, know how badly it hurts. You sound like a good pet owner! I started this this morning, had to leave before I could post it. revamp summed up my thoughts, but I'll go ahead and toss this out there anyway. ;) Since I already gave them my notice,doesn't that mean our lease is already terminated? Yes, it will terminate effective the day you gave notice for, in this case 11/30. Sorry, I was tired last night when I typed my response and left out a key word, "early". LL can terminate the lease early for breach. But with only 3 weeks left it's not really worth the hassle of the paperwork to give notice to vacate and possible eviction. That could well take 4-6 weeks just to land in court (if it even went that far, you could leave voluntarily and avoid it). That scenario would more realistically come into play if you had more months left and LL discovers the dog. They could legally terminate the lease early for breach, following steps in the language of your lease (they have to give you xx days notice to surrender the premises, etc.). It would be worth the effort then, because there's a lot more time left on your contract. But in your case, terminating early would just be a wasted effort because a)they already know you're leaving in less than a month and so b) they should be prepping for a tenant transition anyway. But that doesn't mean they don't have other courses of action. Such as demanding pup be removed, or hitting your Sec Dep for 'damages' or 'cleanup'. OK, this next part is going to get a little more complicated, but wanted to cover the deposit better. I'm not a lawyer, so don't know how this would go. Some in the general public might think well, you've paid that extra deposit for a cat, and have been paying extra per month, so what's the big deal, cat or dog. They both have 4 legs and a tail. ;) So LL can use that extra cat deposit money for a dog, no big deal. I tend to think that's not the case. Because the extra money was specifically for a "cat", not a "pet". So LL legally might be prohibited from using the "cat" money toward clean-up or repair from a dog. In that scenario, if they try to claim dog damage/cleanup then they would dip into the larger pool of funds available, which is your primary Security Deposit. Here's another whammy: since you did exercise the option to have a cat, they could well use that $ for general cleanup or something your cat might have scratched (wall, drapes). And on top of that still dip into the primary Deposit for repairs that only a dog could do (such as pup chewing up baseboard or vinyl flooring). So much depends on your LL if you got caught. If they are super strict and allow no bending of rules, they could insist at worst that you leave in xx days. (In my state it's 10 days for anything other than non-payment, 5 for nonpayment of rents. The time frame absolutely depends on the law and your lease). Middle of the road they could say you can stay but pup's got to find a home elsewhere till 11/30. Best case scenario for you is they let it slide with only 3 weeks to go. They have to give us notice to fix the issue right? That depends on your State and Lease too. Sometimes it's 24 hours written, sometimes it's 24 hours verbal, in my State it's 'reasonable verbal notice'. (Maybe keep pup's stuff ready to skedaddle at a moment's notice?) Despite all that, I know you're on pins n needles, and wouldn't encourage others do this, but just continue to lay low since you've got so little time left, it will likely all work out. Then you can enjoy your pup and relax in your new place. ;)

I'm new, so I apologize for my ignorance, lol I just learned in a college class of mine, about the role of drugs and chemicals in our society, how they came to be, and generally(with my pre-existing knowledge) how they are used today and may be used in the future. I am trying to find a qualitative answer to a question I asked myself and my professor once I learned this information... If drugs and external chemicals have consequences, both bad and good, and were invented(or used once discovered) for temporary enhancement of _ What are some substances, whether in chemical form or otherwise that I or most people can intake periodically, and fit the following criteria?: 1. They Create positive enhancement of life by enhancing some sense(e.g. More energy, less pain, sexual performance, better hearing, better taste, everything else in the book) 2. Does not overwhelm natural homeostasis, and does not have chronic or substantial long term side effects.(e.g. cancer, diseases, loss of senses, loss of brain matter, etc) i.e. What foods, and drugs can we intake that will not be detrimental in the the future, whether used in moderation or daily? Keep in mind, i'm not talking about short-term side effects, because in the end...they end; you don't have to deal with them weeks, months, years down the road, so they can be dealt with in a much better way than long-term effects. I know that alcohol is an effective poison but for example, the hangover you feel after consumption of alcohol the next day is something i'm not worried about. The cardiovascular disease, CNS damage, and liver complications years later are things I am worried about. An example answer to my question might be, the Glycoprotein called Miraculin or "the miracle fruit"(i.e. Synsepalum dulcificum) people today are raving about, that causes sour food to taste sweet. I'm assuming this harmless fruit and chemical, if taken weekly or monthly would probably not have any crazy long term effects, though I might even wrong about that. Perhaps, even if the taste fibres were damaged long term, everything would taste better forever! haha. Anyway, I really appreciate any helpful information any of you can give me!!! Effects i'm truly interested in learning about are enhanced energy, and perhaps sensory changes as alternatives to caffeine(energy drinks), and alcohol for "life enhancers".
