How severe is she? Does she have any other health problems that will cause her stress? As you know, the more stressed out she is, the more it may flare up.Usally Raynaud's is more a PITA than serious- again it depends on if there are other problems. How long was she in Texas? Was she in air-conditioned buildings(where she could not control the temp of the building, as she can at home) for long periods of time? Or was she more at home, where she could control the inside temp? Usually the air conditioning is pretty cool in bigger buildings. One place she will have to eal with air conditioning, the other will be cold outside. Chicago isn't cold all year, though. How much stress will it be in either place? Where does SHE want to be? If she wants to be in Chicago, and she is sent to Texas, that is a stress. Which school has the best history? Which school might an employer be more impressed with? Which school will be easier for her to manage her classes? Can she take a couple classes at a time at one, so that when she is full blown into her area of study her load won't be so heavy. She should now be at the age that it is her decision, no matter how hard you want to protect her. She should know what she can handle, what stresses her (I'm not saying YOU are a stress, but maybe she wants to get away... on her own). In todays world, the university may make or break her career. Let her decide. If it is the wrong decision, she can always move. We women can always change our minds... Hope she enjoys college- it is a great time in her life!

Flint, I am here also still. I went to the movies with a friend tonight and it was so cold in the movie theatre which caused my feet to turn white and I had to watch the movie feeling like I had frost bite the pain was so bad. I am home now and hot from wearing so many sweaters with the heat on but my left foot is still frozen and will not warm up while the right foot warmed up. Hence, I was doing a search on how to warm up an already too cold foot from Raynaud's Syndrome and found this old post and saw it was being made active again. My Raynaud's seemed to have lessened a great deal and then after my neck back from the car accident 3 years ago started to hurt again, it seems my feet and hands are back to being freezing cold. I bought 10 pair of wool socks and it seems the medium wool is better to wear but they are thick and I may have to buy some warm insulated boots wtih room for thicker socks. I used to wear 3 pair of socks in the day time and three at night but I was doing so well, I was this summer only wearing one pair of socks. My feet actually sweated for the first time in my life this summer but now the Raynaud's is back full force again and I think it is from the nerves in my spine over reacting. I hope Flint, you find some answers to help yourself. I hope others join in to give advice on how to warm my feet up quickly. I am going to try the scratching my nails on my feet to see if it helps.

I don't know if this is significant or not, but when I was a child (under nine, because my mom was still alive) I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. I'd say that could be very significant since a lot of the time all these health problems tend to be seen together. The current test for thyroid disease, the TSH isn't really a very good indicator of thyroid function.. but that's what most doctors go by. I'd suggest having your doctor run the thyroid antibody tests too. I went to doctor after doctor for over 10 years to finally get one to run the right tests. ALL my other blood tests were normal, but the antibody tests were way off indicating autoimmune Hashimoto's Disease. Good luck!

It's just so random. It's my right index finger and it truly feels like a dead person's finger. When I touch it from bottom to top I feel absolutely nothing. All nine others fingers are pink and this one is purplish white. Right now it's normal but that could change in a minute. I've even had it in the summer if I'm searching around a frozen food case in the grocery store. >>Susan..where do you get toastie toes? Another question. What is the best kind of sock to buy. 100% wool? I usually wear heavy low cut cotton socks, but for winter, I'll need to change this. It's weird when I take a bath my toes are pure white and then when they hit the warm water they turn purplish black and then pink up. I've never had sores but it gets worse every year so that'll probably next. I was diagnosed with FM in 1990 but didn't have this till about five years ago.
