lump under armpit

I have been feeling sick for a week now, sore throat-not as bad as strep-just annoyingly sore, feeling fluish, no fever, then today still woke up feeling lousy and now i feel this lump under my left armpit, not very big, under the skin, not sure what this means? And of course going through the internet you get a million answers. Dont have health insurance and dont want to pay er bills. so i am wondering if any one has advice or knows what this lump could be?

The armpit has many glands in them.Since you are sick,they could simply be swollen like the other glands in your body are.Feel under your chin,any of that feel slightly swollen too?
For me it is quite normal for alot of glands to swell when sick. If it doesnt go away after you are feeling better,then you may want to have it checked out.Does it hurt?
Also,I dont know if you are male or female. Some women get glands in their breasts and armpits that retain fluid (fibro-cysts or something like that)they are harmless but can usually be a little uncomfortable.
If it seems to grow,hurt worse,or not go away~have it checked out.

It also could be lymphoma or any of a host of other illnesses. I would have it checked out ASAP.
The axilliary glands are not the first to swell with an illness. You need to be checked.
Sorry to alarm you, but that really does need to be seen.

Thanks for the reply. Well, the grass is wet for sure since there is quite a bit of caked-on mulch under the deck. I clean it after every session. The problem is that the grass looks dry when I touch it. Lately the rains have been coming within 2-3 days so the grass grows lot faster and probably not enough time for it to dry completely. I couldn't find any lever that looks similar to the front ones. May be there isn't one. Someone who has a similar model can help here. Meanwhile I will look again. I tried side discharge last week. That was little better but still there were like big layers of grass clippings around my yard. Good thing, my mower didn't stop 10 times while mowing :) I surely need to use the bag next time or else my grass will mess up big time. I am now mowing once a week. The oil is black but still at the level indicated on the dipstick. Is that an indication of a problem? Thanks.

Thanks for the info. It sounds exactly like what I was observing, although no blemishes on the skin. Was just wondering what it was in case my pear trees ever start fruiting and something like it shows up--though calcium deficiency isn't likely due to lime levels here as long as I keep the water regular. Guess it is somewhat like blossom end rot in tomatoes.

She didnt think it could be a swollen lymph node? Sometimes they get like that when you have a small infection somewhere. Here's the thing , whatever it is, it should go away in a couple of three weeks. If not, go to your internist, they see more of it. It is your body, if you feel iffy about it get a needle biopsy, chances are it is absolutely nothing. Where you just doing your monthly check when you found it? I dont now, nor did I ever believe the "sore or not" . Do not hear that I am saying you have something bad, just have another opinion, thats all I am saying. I had a few bumps a couple of years ago. They were ingrown hairs from using a cheap blade and drying soap. As far as wasting the Drs. time.......it is why they are paid.

beaner, I know you have this obsession with that volunteer callery pear seedling growing on the roadside. Fuzzy photos, but I'm suspecting that stuff is callus material/root primordia... doubt they'll root now... I'd have left 'em alone for at least 3 months, or until I could tell they had roots, before I cut them off. Read up on t-budding... you can t-bud from the object of your obsession onto a suitable rootstock (another pear),probably as early as late June.

I would think an underarm lump needs to be checked out. It's probably nothing, but you know, better to be safe....

Yup, your lymph glands are doing just what they are suppose to. When you are well re check lump, bet it's gone.

Those kinds of lumps should be checked out. I know you don't have money, but I think this would be money well spent.
You shouldn't be getting a swollen node in your armpit for a throat problem. Nodes usually swell above where there is an infection.
I'm afraid you're going to just have to bite the bullet and spend the money. Many places will gladly set up a payment schedule for you, over something like 6-9 months.

I just wanted to add I have heard of people having a "blcoked sweat duct" in the arm pit too which could cause a lump.

I agree. Any lump in or near breast material needs to be checked out immediately. It may just be a swollen lymph gland, but if it were me I'd check it out. Are there any walk-in clinics near where you live?
