Pressure Canning! Get me started.... (Returning under a new id..
Comments (11)Serena - if it has what you called the "old popoff thing" on top then it is an old petcock canner and is not safe. They have not been considered safe for many years despite what the store guy said. These are the canners that blew up in the good old days and if you review the recent discussion linked below you'll find more discussion on them. Before you use it, please do get it replaced with a modern pressure relief valve, if that is even possible on that model, for your safety or don't use this canner. Mirromatic is the vintage name for Mirro and modern Mirro canners, perfectly safe, are very different from the old Mirromatic ones. I cant remember the size but its a larger one. To be used for pressure canning, it MUST hold a minimum of 4 quart jars. Any smaller and it can't be used for canning, only for pressure cooking. NCHFP (the link Deanna provided for you) is the recognized authority for all current guidelines and safe home canning rules and regs. There are many other disreputable sites out there advocating unsafe practices but NCHFP is the site we here will always cite as the only legit source. Explore it in detail for all sorts of safety guidelines. Home food preservation is fun and cost-effective and incorporates convenience to a degree as well, but it is SAFETY that is the first rule. Comments (16)Tina- Yeah, it seems like a good office that I go to! They're very busy; young & old people coming and going. Yeah, they have me doing a half-dozen exercises. A couple are with bands. * One is arms stiff out in front of me, bringing wrists down to hip, and finishing with a "squeeze" between the shoulder-blades. The TRICKY part is to do the last few inches WITHOUT using the actual shoulder muscles much...but trying to isolate the squeeze to just between the blades...tricky!! * The other "band" ex. is- Elbows in front of me, with palms facing me. Forearm/upper-arm angle = 90deg. Now, arms are rotated outwards/back, so palms are facing your ears at the finish. Viewed from the back, it looks like you're making the letter "W". Again, the tricky part is to keep the shoulders "Low & quiet", and just squeezing the S-blades together. * There's some "Floor" ex's. for balance & hip strength thru the back. A couple use a balance-ball. Overall, I'm SO glad I went thru this!! One of the Techs is a smaller young Woman. When She gets into working some of the smaller R/C-muscles/tendons at a deeper level though....%@**UWY&(#...it hurts! Today...they went a little deeper, per the Chiro's orders....Oh joy....! It's helping though!! At least I can "comfortably tolerate" some of the massages that used to damn-near make me scream! The muscles now seem softer and more pliable when they're working on me. Comments (2)I don't appreacite the link to Paternity Testing from the above poster but... Did finally go to the doctor. He did an Xray and the structure of the knee is fine. He thinks that I may damaged the nerves that go across the kneecap OR I could have torn cartilage. Either way he wants an MRI done. If it is torn cartilage, surgery is the only answer since it won't heal on its own. He said that to heal, there has to be blood flow and there isn't any in the knee, just in the fluid surrounding the joint. If its nerve damage, only time will tell if it gets better on its own....See MoreTriciae - a question for you
Comments (13)mboston, For me, it took years to get a positive blood marker. ravencajun, ALS is a common misdiagnosis. I had several doctors tell me I had MS, also a common mistake. In med school their training consists of a single paragraph noting the dry mouth/eyes. Nothing about vital organs, neuropathy, central nervous system, etc. If you're ever looking for more info, I can highly recommend the Foundation's tapes of their annual meeting guest speakers. If your a Foundation member there is a large discount. Even if you're not the tapes are an excellent investment. /tricia...See Morejulie_va
