Removing Wisdom Teeth after the age of 50

| I am 52 yrs. old and still have all my teeth, including all four of my wisdom teeth. I have even had them drilled and filled when necessary (very difficult for the dentist to do -- not much space back there). However, she says that they should be removed, as they are affecting the molars next to them (you know, the "pocket" thing -- "I have a #8 here and a #7 right next to it," etc., etc.,etc.
I am just curious how many people reading this actually still have them??? |

I'm not 50,but I still have ONE of my wisdom teeth left. I had them removed one at a time over the years when they seperately started bothering me.
I have known two people who had them ALL removed at the same time,and they were MISERABLE for days and their faces swelled something awful. However,there is something to be said for getting it all over and done with in one time.
The one I have left is turned completely side ways,and I'm pretty sure that might be a problem removing it.It doesnt bother me at all so I let it be.
I have dreaded each time with the other teeth.I didnt get all the drugs and stuff,just novacaine. You may feel better with them out though. I felt like my mouth wasnt as crowded. |

I had mine out when I was about 30. Supposedly, they are just a perfect spot for decay.
I can't see you wasting any more money on keeping them. If they were perfectly good, I'd say there wasn't a good reason to have them out, but you've had yours filled.
I had mine removed by an oral surgeon. He put me to sleep, and when I woke up, I was fine. Really not much recovery time needed, and no other problems. |

| I am 59 and I have 3 of my wisdom teeth. I would have the 4th, but I waited until I was in so much pain that I wanted the quickest solution possible - and that meant pulling - not filling |

| Had all mine taken out at one time,not much pain. Helps to have someone who specialise in exstractions. Bad teeth are not healthy and can lead to heart problems. In your case I see no problem of having them taken out. |
