ears itch deep inside ...... any help?

I have dry ears inside the ENT Dr. says & prescribed an ointment (Triamcinolone) to be put in each ear. I have been using this for over a year & still the ears itch intensly deep inside! Any one have this problem & if so, what have you found to be of any help? I want to just dig in the ears & scratch them... driving me crazy!!

Mine drive me crazy too sometimes. I know what my problem is, it's allergies.

So maybe you have the same problem. Have you ever tried any antihistimine medication? If not, it might be worth while to try a mild OTC thing like Benedryl at night. If it seems to help, even a little, maybe a trip to an allergist might be worth while.

I never thought I had any allergies but guess the ear problem driving me crazy could be one. I do just now have a very weird unproductive 'whooping-like'cough that is keeping me awake & muscles so sore from coughing so will try some antihistamines. We have had a mild winter even for here & I see some plum tree buds forming on the fruit trees so perhaps other things like cedar, etc. are putting out pollen early now too. Thanks for the suggestion!

She is so cute! Since you said it was a yeast infection, I'm thinking about my old dog who had floppy ears and chronic problems with yeast infections in them. We used OTC miconazole in her ears with pretty decent results. Sometimes we used the human woman yeast infection cream, and sometimes we used the human foot powder- just had to make sure it was miconazole. The foot powder tends to dry things out (if that's needed) and we never had much problem with it caking up in her ears, though we did carefully clean her ears from time to time with doggy ear wash. It sounds like access into the ear is really limited, but I thought I'd mention this and maybe you can ask your vet if trying these products in an option. Abby always seemed to get a lot of very quick relief and comfort whenever we used one of these on her for a yeast ear infection. FWIW, the meds we got at the vet never helped Abby for very long. Time and again we went back to miconazole in one form or another.

As a vet tech here's what I'd suggest. If it's been wet and soggy around the best thing for your dogs paw is to clean it gently but good with soap/water and make sure it stays dry, no licking. Watch inbetween the dogs toes for redness/itching too and do the same if needed. If your going to give your dog anything for allergies I would try 1 tablet of regular benadryl in the pink/white box once daily. If that doesn't work after a few days then contact your vet you don't want to try various antihistamines because they could have things like sudafed (decongestants) in them that dogs bodies can't handle. As far as the ears you did great! As for the nails you might try the new Pedi Paws it could be the feel of the nail clippers or sound that bothers your dog. I get a hand full of dog food and set it aside, if my dog is good the first couple nails I give him praise and a treat etc. Just watch for the nails curling around if they get too long they can grow into the dogs pads but every dogs normal nail length is different. Deep drawer with shallow drawer nested inside it

I did this... I have 3 equal height drawers to the right and left of my range rather than shallow on top over 2 deeper drawers. On the left side of my range I have a two tier cutlery divider. The top tier is your standard cutlery divider, below is a pacific cloth lined sterling silver cutlery holder. This keeps the sterling completely hidden away yet easily accessible. I love my sterling and wasn't using it because it was a major process to take it out, unwrap it from its individual little felt holders, etc. Now its right there. The added benefit to this, is that the top drawer on the right side of the range is also deeper and this is where I am keeping my utensils and cooking things. I have a divider down the center of the drawer. On one side of the divider is things like lemon juicer, cheese grater, onion chopper, apple coarer - things that are too bulky for a shallow drawer but not really bulky enough for a deep drawer. On the other side of the divider I have spatulas, large spoons, etc. -- things I want to have handy near the stove. In my old kitchen I had these in a shallow top drawer and they were a little crowded and sometimes causing me not to be able to close the drawer without rearranging - now I don't have that problem. Thanks, Carolina...I wasn't worried about the oils but the benzocaine. Glad to know that it can be used on little ones. aok, Amdro is what I've recommended for many years. Just be sure to read and follow the directions carefully....do not disturb the nest at all or the darned things will simply pack up and move to a different location. That's all that boiling water will do, too. Fire ant nests are far too expansive to be much affected by a stream of boiling water. The workers will gather the poison laced Amdro particles, taking them into the nesting chambers where they are eventually fed to the larvae, all other members of the colony, and the queen. You can literally watch the ants come after the sprinkles immediately. Do not use Amdro on a veggie garden, though. There are organic baits for that. Yes, they bite and sting! They latch on with their jaws before winding up to deliver venom-loaded stings. They can sting more than once from the same bite hold.

People usually think of allergies causing runny nose (hayfever) or itchy eyes. But Allergic Bronchitis is another annoying one. You cough...and cough....and cough and never really get relief.

Try an allergist. He/she will probably start you with an antihistimine that is stronger than you can buy without a presciption.

It might be pollen or something in your house like feather pillows or mold and mildew.

Well, I think you have diagnosed it!! I the past two weeks have had a nose that runs so bad... just clear discharge, a HORRIBLE deep non-productive whooping/wracking cough & now with the itchy ears... well, I tried some antihistamine I had & it does seem to help for awhile! The ears are less itchy & for a few hours after taking the pill my nose runs less & the cough is less also. It got so bad I couldn't sleep & my stomach muscles were so sore from the horrible deep coughing.

I never had an allergy before & at my age I never thought I would get any now but.... guess what: surprize!! Been a mild dry winter here & I guess there is already pollen in the air. I do remember my last blood work showed an elevated eosinophil count & that can be due to allergies!

If it keeps up I may have to get a Rx for it instead of the OTC antihistamines I took

It sure sounds like allergy reactions. Clear nose drool is a pretty good sign. With a cold or infection, it would be more yellow.

Untreated allergies can develop into Asthma. The Bronchitis can get worse until you can't get air in or out. You don't want that to happen. Allergies can reach a point that they spring up at any age. Someone in your neighborhood may have planted some unusual flowers or there's one too many cats around for you to handle. A good allergist looks at what changes have happened.

I have found that prescription medication is often less expensive than OTC.
