'PAIN'? But, not in the back.????

Hello!

I am posting on a new idea now. Maybe ..just maybe some one will see the word "pain" and let me know if they have ever had this lower abdomon pain.

I have had it for over 20 days now. The doctors have taken many tests and find nothing. Arthritis showed up on my spine on an x-ray...but my back does not pain.

All my constant pain is in my lower abdoman..straight across and real close to my leg joints, but not in my hips.

If I stand up straight there is not much pain. If I sit or try to stand up it hurts a lot. Or just bend over.

Hope someone has an idea what it could be?

I was checked for that. It has been rulled out.
The doctor stood me up in front of him. and said pull your pants down. He was putting rubber gloves on. (I was so embarrased:-).He had me cough and cough and he pushed in different places. No Hernia.

Wow Jane, I am tired just reading about what all you did! Sounds like a wonderful time and lots of work and effort on your part. What a large group to entertain! So nice that your DH helps you with the decorating. Mine does not help with the inside at all. I carry everything up from the basement including the trees, all the boxes, ladders, etc. The only thing he does outside is put a blow mold Santa on our mailbox, although this year, he did run an extension cord from the backyard for some of the lights as they kept tripping the breaker this year! Again, getting everything down out of the rafters, off of the shelves, and put up is up to me! Sorry, I just needed to vent a little. I get a bit envious when I hear of other DH's that help with decorating. Anyway, looking forward to your pix. TFS, Candy

Upper back/shoulder pain caused by situation at work

Oldroser, I unfortunately work for a 40-employee company that doesn't care about its employees' health. I live in a small town and my gp told me that many people from this company have orthopedic problems related to their work here. There was an older lady who had dislocated her shoulder one weekend. She was to have an operation the following Friday. On the Tuesday after the injury, she was back at work. I asked her why she wasn't at home, considering her pain. She said she needed the money. To make a long story short, she got a letter in the mail informing her that she was fired just prior to her surgery and when she showed up at the hospital, she found out she had no insurance. So, this company does not care about its employees and would fire me before using their worker's compensation. Also, I didn't take their medical insurance because I'm under my husband's.

I have always been told that you should only lay on a rolled towel for no longer than 15 or 20 minutes. I had a few years of dizzy spells, passed out one time and broke my humorous in 3 places. I woke up one night, was sick to my stomach and so dizzy I could not walk. That is when I realized it was the bean neck pillow. I threw it away and never had a serious dizzy spell since. I also have a friend with the disease that starts with an m, mineras or something like that. He passes out all of the time and he believes it is the position of his neck when he has problems. So be careful about laying on a towel or semi hard pillow.

slightly off topic, but still connected with ergonomics... 1) I am unhappy with "farm" sinks that have a cold front panel to lean into when doing dishes or washing veggies. I find myself holding back, which makes the lean forward an even bigger back-killer, plus I'm not relaxed because I'm worried about touching that cold sink front. I decided to put in a regular sink, not a self-front-panel one. 2) I have a popup camper trailer with built-in countertops of a sort, but they are very low, as low as the camper bottom section. In order to work in it, I bought two folding bed trays, the kind for breakfast in bed. They were in a department store, cheap but useful. I elevate the dishpan, the cutting surface, whatever. Very handy and it might help someone with similar issues in a house kitchen. 3) I read somewhere that the new deeper sink trend is a response to people's desire to camouflage dirty dishes in an open-architecture kitchen. If you are embarrassed to have a working kitchen, build a wall between it and your table. Don't compromise your back!

When I had pain, they wanted to check for hernia, gall stones, or whatever could be causing it. In my case, they did an ultrasound and ruled it out.

(in my case, I had injured a tendon and they gave me an anti-inflammatory injection into it until it could heal on its own but it felt like gallstones)

Have they done anything besides the X-ray and cough test?

They did a cat scan too. A few days ago they did a MRI...I have not heard from that as yet. They have rilled out so many things.
I am starting to think perhaps it is "Gastroenitis."
I see my doctor on Monday...I will ask him if it could be. But, he may have the results of the MRI by then.

I apoligize for not writing sooner. We have been busy and away for about 2 weeks and in and out of the house.
The MRI showed nothing wrong.
I went to see my doctor and from all the tests it revealed that it has to be Diverticulitus. I guess that is better than having something worse. So far the pain has not come back. But I do notice I can not get out of a chair as quickly as I did....Betty in Florida
