4 months battling post-nasal drip-HELP!
Comments (14)I've had it, more or less, all my life. You might look for anything that has changed in your surroundings around the time this started...even some thing as small as a change of toothpaste or light bulbs can have an effect. I've picked up a few ideas... 1.)carpets....most people have no idea how much sand collects beneath a wall to wall carpet, even if it is vacuumed every day. 2.)lawn blowers 3.) some area near your home that is producing great amounts of dust,smog...ie: new construction...freeway. etc. 4.) new trees or plants. Notice if it continues when you go far away, like on a weekend trip to another climate...If so, then it something in your environment.....even dry air can cause this. One other thing ....For about 8 months one time, I stopped completely eating ANY thing with flour in it...this meant reading labels religiously...for instance: Soy sauce has wheat flour as its primary ingredient. Many candy bars..like Snickers or Milky Way...I can't remember which..have flour as the prime ingredient. Abstaining from all flour helped me in a time when I had the complication of dizziness and blacking out. It really helped...however, it is so difficult to check everything for flour that now I just abstain from bread and cakes and the post nasal drip is better. Good luck...it would be nice if it disappeared as suddenly as it came. Lina...See Moreallergies/asthma/coughing attack.....
Comments (23)We must have been posting at the same time...... Sable - he does wheeze during his coughing attack. Luckily my FIL is a doc & he has come by daily to check his lungs. That is great about your son taking care of his own meds.....shoot, I'm just trying to get this boy to remember to brush his teeth daily when he wakes up!! Golddust - he has a major sinus infection now. They did a CT scan & showed the cavities or rather not showing the maxillary cavity b/c it is so congested. Segbrown - I am glad Flonase is working for you. My DH uses that also. We are using inhalers that have the fine powder that comes out - he was having a difficult time knowing when to inhale & push the inhaler. I find myself wanting to twist & cock the inhaler for him but he has to be able to do it himself & he does. Total fluke about getting tested for allergies.....I had an appointment b/c of a rash on my arm. Asthma doc & FIL worked together many years ago so FIL tells me to take my DS with me to my appointment just to make sure he was not missing anything. So, I call to ask if I can bring my son & Dr. says yes. Well, after they did that testing on his back - my rash was never mentioned!! I am so grateful that we took him and had him tested b/c this explains so much. I am totally rambling but I really appreciate the support. Smiles:)...See MoreI have a cough
Comments (17)I get bronchitis nearly every time I catch a cold. I have asthma, and have gone to a lung/asthma specialist (before my HMO decided I didn't need to! GRRR) for it in the past. He always told me to do this and it would tell me if my cold had become bronchitis..... take in a big deep breath. Blow it out QUICKLY and forcefully through your mouth. If you start coughing, you've got bronchitis. He also said to see Dr. if temps are over 102. And, that the stuff that you cough up should not be really dark (could be old blood in the lungs) or have bright blood in it. For a cold's cough, he always recommended lots of vitamen C, or orange juice..... take in extra fluid to keep lung tissue hydrated, and take the Robitussen as needed to sleep - otherwise, he preferred not doing anything about cold symptoms, because he believed it prolonged the cold - that you have a cough or drainage for a reason and it is part of ridding the body of the germs. Hope you get better soon....See MoreCoughing, Runny Nose and Tired
Comments (6)My pregnant DIL had something last week. They were here on Sunday night for dinner and she was fine. Monday she woke up sick and went to her OB, whos said she was dehydrated. My son came down with runny nose and cough on Thursday, felt ok on Friday then Saturday woke up with a fever of 102. Last night I felt like I had a scratchy throat and the start of a headache and cough. Today I have worse as the day goes on but no fever, just chills. Funny thing is that I visited 14 schools in the month of Jan. and Feb., testing kids and didn't pick up anything. You would have thought not being around kids for a while that I would have gotten stuff then....See Morelh00
