Still VERY happy. I can see better than I did with my glasses, but sometimes my vision isn't as good, although still great (especially if I'm due to put the eyedrops in). The doc said that was normal and it would take about 4 weeks to completely stablize. If I go out at night and look at a sign that's lit up, I have a hard time reading that, and that's also normal, along with halos around headlights which will last for a few weeks. Lars, I'm going to be 45 in March (I think your brother and I share the same bday ;). I am starting to see a difference in my nearsightedness, which started about six months ago. I haven't really had to use reading glasses in the past, but before the surgery, I would flip my regular glasses up to read something small. Now I just hold it out at about half an arm's length and I can see it clearly. I tried my dollar store reading glasses this morning and I could see well to read the back of a medicine container. I went into this knowing it wouldn't help me if I needed reading glasses. Yes, I really do feel like it's a miracle!

UPDATE: Went to practice session #3 at the eye doctor and was able to get contacts in and out of both eyes. The left eye was harder. The way I got them in was to NOT look in a mirror, pull down just the lower lid, and stare straight ahead. Another optician joined in to help. She saw my nails which were as short as they can be. She said I need to pull the contact down with the pad of my middle finger and then try to pinch the contact off my lower lid. They were out of the lenses with my prescription so they sent me home with just practice lenses until a trial set come in. I need to practice everyday putting the contacts in and out. I am so relieved to have gotten this far! I'm actually glad to just have the practice lenses for a while. I forgot to ask about the mono or multifocal. Thank you all for the help. I did make a word document with all the advice. I may need to refer to it sometimes if I run into trouble. edited to add: I ask about those plunger things to put in contacts. I had lasik done in 2004 at the age of 48 in Omaha, NE and the cost was $2990. I was very near sighted. I hesitated having the surgery until one night I was at a hotel alone & fell asleep with my glasses on & couldn't find them the next morning. I couldn't see to find them & nearly called housekeeping. Now, after the surgery it's nice to be able to get up in the morning & not be dependent upon glasses; however I don't believe the vision is as clear as when you wear glasses. I'm now 52 and need reading glasses for fine print & I probably could benefit from regular glasses but I keep trying to exercise my eyes so that I don't get dependent upon them again. Lasik is good, but it's not a cure-all.
