The plants in your garden do not indiscriminately absorb things out of the water. they absorb only those nutrients that they need. Plants, like humans, have incredible filters. they need to protect themselves too. If there is anything to worry about it would be harmful bacteria on the surface of the vegetables or fruits. even this is exceptionally unlikely since we have such hot dry weather: nearly all bacteria will die. two ways you can respond to your concern: start using drip irrigation to prevent water on the plants and fruits and wash your food before eating it. people use "grey" water from their homes to water vegetable garden all the time. that is far dirtier than your secondary water. I had infertility issues from the start. I had trouble conceiving and carrying - lost two, maybe more before the end of the first trimester. I had a septate uterus - where there is a partial seperation of the uterus. If the egg implants there, there is not enough blood flow for the pregnancy to continue. After nearly 8 years of trying, I finally found a doctor who was willing to remove it - got pregnant the next cycle and had my son - wonderful pregnancy. Then - never conceived again! (I did use Clomid - a fertility drug before and after the surgery to remove the septum). then when my son was 6, I developed an ovarian cycst - it grew quickly and they had to do an emergency hysterectomy and they found out I had endometrosis all over. I never had the pain associated with endometrosis - unitl the cycst was the size of a grapefruit. I had never been told I had it before but I sometmes wonder if it was there (endometrosis) to begin with. It is a terrible pain in your heart to even lose an early pregnancy - its an undefinable loss. I wish I had more children but at least I have my son - and he now has a son. Over time, you come to terms with it - but its not easy. I wish your daughter and family the best. The whole infertiltiy issue can control your life. have her check out the support group RESOLVE. Even sharing with someone online ( if you find a local group, that's better) can help.

"so what's different now?" It was buried somewhere in one of my initial posts but what's different now is tubal blockage. I have diagnosed infertility that, unfortunately, is not stress-related. It's funny b/c it's only my right tube that's blocked, and the consensus has been that I had damage to it from a laparoscopy I had in 2001, 4 wks before I got pg with DD. NOW--I am not saying that some of this isn't a blessing in disguise. We consciously made a decision to take a break from fertility treatments from April-Aug. for all of the reasons above---it was just not good timing. But stress aside---it's not why I am NOT getting pregnant. With my tubal issues, IVF is going to probably be our only shot at conception. I don't buy the whole stress thing, either, b/c plenty of people get pregnant when they *shouldn't.* Look at BM. Three kids between the two of them already, BM has a drinking problem, they have NO MONEY, and still---she's pregnant with number 4. SIGH. I appreciate the sentiment behind what you said, Sylvia, though.

So, do you guys agree with that author that the research done was BOGUS that said lung cancer was not linked to smoking -- or do you NOT agree with him, and think that the research was right and that smoking is not linked to cancer? You do realize I posted a situation that was in reverse of what you would have thought, right? -and that in fact, almost everyone would agree with, right? So, you are in fact going off a on a guy you most probably agree with. Do you even know you are doing that? Maybe that pancake you're looking at is actually a waffle - better take a closer look - LOL I was using that author's thoughts about the smoking/cancer research as an example of how Bogus research can be. Those lung cancer/cigarette research studies are pretty well known 'bought' research studies that have been discussed by thousands of people -some more crazy than others. I've posted another link about possible skewed research for more or less the same reasons -- because the study was 'bought' or paid for by a cigarette company --- maybe you can go off on that author too especially if you agree with him ;-) Time to flip that pancake... Anyway, I have something to comment about from susan's link: "Women who remembered their parents smoking around them were 26 percent more likely to have had difficulty becoming pregnant and women exposed to any secondhand smoke were 39 percent more likely to have had a miscarriage, Peppone's team reported". Women who remembered their parents smoking around them... are also probably 15-20 years older than those that don't. (More 42 year olds had parents that smoked than 20 somethings). So, maybe it's age that is contributing to fertility and miscarriage issues, and not smoking. You would think that their sample would be using women of the same age. But, for some reason, I doubt it... I bet the women with 'issues' are also significantly older. Did they factor that in? Bottom line, research studies are generally paid for by someone and certain results are expected. Questions can be asked in ways and information can be left off to come to almost any conclusion a researcher wants to come to. It's not certain that the findings are necessarily wrong; but they are often not the smoking gun that so many suggestible readers and viewers want them to be.
