HAVE: What do you have way too much of?
Comments (21)Wanna-run, I'm in Miami, near the bay, so cold sensitive is the least of my worries. I've often wonderered if I'm actually in zone 11 because lots of zone 10 plants simply won't survive the summer here. I realized I also have a costus and it looks ratty too, but that's not from cold. I think it must need either more water, or a different soil. And if you haven't gotten rid of the rain lillies yet, I'd love some. My grandmother used to grow them and it's one of the only things she grew, up in the panhandle, that I can grow here, so I"m a little sentimental about them. I found one growing in a path, between the stones, when we moved in and I was so thrilled when it bloomed. Susannah...See MoreI think I have my daylilies in too much shade
Comments (11)That's what I feared, thought they would look so nice where I planted them. There are 10 or 12 of the same kind, and I sure don't want to pot them up. I believe you about the east side. That is tough also one rose gets hardly any morning sun and bloomed very well. My Asian or longiforum? lilies (Regal and Easter) are NOT happy campers, lean like crazy, but do bloom, the Regals are dwindling, and I would move those if I had room somewhere else. One spot on the west I'm saving for a couple roses, but it may not get quite enough sun either for lilies, amazing how little sun some roses will tolerate. I just don't have enough sunny spots in my yard and would have to dig up more sod which I am not up to now. They should be moved in the fall because that is when I planted them. They were too expensive to give away on freecycle and don't want to trade for anything because I don't know where I'd put that either. Sigh. I should have been more realistic. I've always wanted to tier the whole back terrace, big dressed stone of some kind, it's enough out that lilies and a lot more would grow there, but don't want to start something that is going to be too much more work to maintain. Thanks for answering. Can't have everything in a small yard, surprised I got in as much as I did and still have a lot of lawn (which I like) left....See MoreWhy I have not been around much
Comments (7)Hi, I am still working like a fool. Too many hours right now still trying to straighten things out at the City. I did it for the cemetery several years ago I can do it for the city. I think I am starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. Dang well better be. Heheheheh Last night as I was walking home from work at the cafe at almost 11PM ,alone, I saw a neighbor riding his four wheeler over to the market, his market, to fuel up the wood stove for the night. At the cafe I had just left one of the gals was still there baking rolls for the Christmas banquet they were putting on for the telephone company today and her two aunts had just arrived to visit with her while she cooked. Another neighbor was still out hanging Christmas lights. Of course all the wild kitties were waiting for me on the front porch. LOL I am not really sure what I am getting at here only it was such a comfortable feeling to see so much activity in town and know what was going on and all so relaxed. Guess it is just the beauty of living in a small town. That is all. Just waving hi and I really will be back soon. My house still needs lots of organizing work. I am actually looking forward to it. Oh and it was 19 degrees here this morning. Chris...See MoreWhat Do You Have Too Much Of, & Why Do You Have It?
Comments (89)So many people with issues with parents...sad. I was loved, I had toys and gifts, dresses, dolls, books, sport stuff, games,I lacked for nothing . But as I got older, I think I tried to "recapture" my childhood. As an adult, I loved antique shows, flea markets, garage sales. Any time I saw something we had in our house growing up, I had to buy it. I even bought too many rose bushes and planted them in my garden, trying to re-create my Grandma's rose garden. I now have a linen closet stacked with doilies and tablecloths I'll never use, sets of fancy glasses too fragile to use, things like that. Oh, and on the funny side, my daughter cleaned out my bathroom just yesterday. She found eleven bottles of Listerine. I don't know, I hate the stuff, it burns... I remember buying one bottle because it did everything, whitens teeth, freshens breath, makes gums healthy, strengthens the enamel. I'm just always looking for something to make me happy....See Moresneakyplant
