I believe I recall reading somewhere that plaque forms more readily in a dry mouth because saliva is a natural deterrent to bacteria. You could ask your dentist if this is true and if so, perhaps you could chew sugarless gum since gum chewing stimulates saliva production.

I was told the plaque production (or whatever you want to call it) can be hereditary too. The hygenist told me that the minerals in your saliva help to form plaque deposits and then bacteria will latch onto that. This is why you get more plaque on the back of your bottom front teeth, because there is a major saliva gland there.
Have you tried using mouthwash? I think there are some kinds that say they reduce plaque. I don't know if that is true, but it may be worth a try.

Well, I can't answer why you have so much plaque, but I'm the same way. The only thing I've found that helps is a Sonicare Toothbrush.

A water pic does a lot of good too. A battery operated toothbrush helps a lot too. Some people just form the stuff. It's a aggrevation and requires more frequent cleaning but if the dentist is a good one, he will watch to see if it's causing any gum problems.

My dentist gives me a hard time about the amount of tartar that is constantly on my teeth, but I will have a white line of hardened tartar by the time I go to bed on the day they were cleaned. My mother was the same way. I use the electronic toothbrush, I floss twice a day, I always use the plaqaue control mouthwash - and NOTHING has helped. My mother was the same way.
