No, the only animal he has is a parrot named Pepper, and no he is not "yanking my chain", as he really has lost a great deal of weight.

We had a "misunderstanding" and I didn't see him for two months. When I did see him again, I did notice that something was a little different but didn't realize what it was until he told me. He was right, he had lost lots of weight -- from 250 lbs. to 200 lbs. within 2-3 months.

I think the reason that he's not telling me what happened, is because he knows that it is driving me crazy not knowing.

If it's not a medical problems, a lot of times weight loss like that can come from an emotional problem: depression, anxiety, severe stress. Another reason could be the start or stopping of a new medicine.. some medicines make you gain weight and some lose weight... maybe it's something like that. I hope he is ok.

If you didn't see him for two months, it's possible that he had liposuction or some other weight reduction surgery. That's why he's not telling. He'd rather you just stay busy guessing.

I can think of several non-terminal medical conditions that cause a person to lose weight quickly, but what good would it do to speculate?

Truly, I think you have to let it drop. Even if you get a bunch of responses with possibilities, you simply won't know unless and until he decides to tell you.

Maybe you're right that he's not telling you because he knows that not knowing is driving you crazy. In which case, the more you speculate, the less likely you are to know.

Could be that he doesn't know the reason why himself! I lost 50 pounds in a matter of a few months too about 2 years ago. My family doctor said I was okay at 109 lbs at 5 feet 2 inches. He didn't seem concerned with how fast I was losing the weight. My specialist, however, said that it wasn't right - even for a person on a diet! I was 106 lbs when I saw him. He put me on an antidepressant. I said "Why? I'm not depressed." He said that antidepressants can make a person gain weight. It was a very small dose and it worked. I was only on them for a month though cuz I didn't like how it made me feel.

I went down to 104 lbs, my menstruations were about every 2 months, and I was starting to get scared that my body was starting to shut down. I would step on the scale everyy week and see that I was 5 lbs less! It was the first time in my life that I was having a hard time GAINING weight. Usually I would just LOOK at food and gain! LOL

I was anemic at the time, but nobody knows why it happened. Now I'm 134 lbs and loving it!

My specialist told me to eat every 3 hours. A little bit at a time. You see, the problem I was having was that when I was hungry, I had to eat RIGHT AWAY or I'd be sick. I would vomit and then feel better and be able to eat a little bit. I would eat 2/3 cup of rice and be FULL! I always had something on hand (baked goods, etc.) to eat whenever I got hungry. I "stretched" my stomach back to what it was eventually so that now I eat "normally". Not sure what happened but I'm glad it's over!
