Vitamin D makes my hip ache.....

Has anyone had this to happen? When I try to research this question, everything relates to vitamin D deficiency!

I found this when I googled for side effects. I don't take any supplements, they may help what you need but they can also do a lot of damage in other places. They are drugs, unregulated and no guarantee that there is any V D in the bottle.

Vitamin D Side Effects & Safety

Vitamin D is LIKELY SAFE when taken by mouth or given as a shot into the muscle in recommended amounts. Most people do not commonly experience side effects with vitamin D, unless too much is taken. Some side effects of taking too much vitamin D include weakness, fatigue, sleepiness, headache, loss of appetite, dry mouth, metallic taste, nausea, vomiting, and others.

Taking vitamin D for long periods of time in doses higher than 4000 units daily is POSSIBLY UNSAFE and may cause excessively high levels of calcium in the blood. However, much higher doses are often needed for the short-term treatment of vitamin D deficiency. This type of treatment should be done under the supervision of a healthcare provider.

Special Precautions & Warnings:
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Vitamin D is LIKELY SAFEduring pregnancy and breast-feeding when used in daily amounts below 4000 units. Do not use higher doses. Vitamin D is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when used in higher amounts during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Using higher doses might cause serious harm to the infant.

Kidney disease: Vitamin D may increase calcium levels and increase the risk of Ã¢ÂÂhardening of the arteriesÃ¢ÂÂ in people with serious kidney disease. This must be balanced with the need to prevent renal osteodystrophy, a bone disease that occurs when the kidneys fail to maintain the proper levels of calcium and phosphorus in the blood. Calcium levels should be monitored carefully in people with kidney disease.

High levels of calcium in the blood: Taking vitamin D could make this condition worse.

Ã¢ÂÂHardening of the arteriesÃ¢ÂÂ (atherosclerosis): Taking vitamin D could make this condition worse, especially in people with kidney disease.

Sarcoidosis: Vitamin D may increase calcium levels in people with sarcoidosis. This could lead to kidney stones and other problems. Use vitamin D cautiously.

Histoplasmosis: Vitamin D may increase calcium levels in people with histoplasmosis. This could lead to kidney stones and other problems. Use vitamin D cautiously.

Over-active parathyroid gland (hyperparathyroidism): Vitamin D may increase calcium levels in people with hyperparathyroidism. Use vitamin D cautiously.

Lymphoma: Vitamin D may increase calcium levels in people with lymphoma. This could lead to kidney stones and other problems. Use vitamin D cautiously.

Tuberculosis: Vitamin D might increase calcium levels in people with tuberculosis. This might result in complications such as kidney stone

Vitamin D is an essential vitamin and if you have (cholesterol and sun) your body will make it. As far as reading most of these scar tactics that they use to get you not to supplement phrases like could, might, may, possibly are used to make you think they are fact. Anything to excess is dangerous even pure oxygen would kill. Supplements are still safer than petroleum based drugs.

Fiona, we're going through a similar experience. Neighbor across the street has this big pile of cinderblocks he doesn't want. 33 of them make a nice raised bed. We know because we moved the first 33 a week ago, into the back yard, and then of course you know that the next part is moving them all again to stack into a bed. So I handled each one twice, probably. We are trying to get up the energy to move another 66. Most of my beds and containers are heavy-duty plastic so it's nice to have some concrete for variety.

John, I am not sure the lights you have bought will give you the intensity in output to make a significant difference. The so called 100 watt equivalent CFL bulbs give you only about 1,600 lumens each. Just for comparison my 400 watt metal halide grow lamp puts out 32,000 lumens. It gives too many sources of glare to the eyes. I think a bounced even all around ambient bright illumination feels the best. I believe humans react to light more than just visually by eyes. That's why blind people can also have SAD problems. Also, a blue incandescent light does not give more blue light than a regular white incandescent light. You may also look into getting a dust/dawn light to wake you up in the morning, and to put you to sleep at night. Looking at the picture of your office, I have a few suggestions: 1. Have your monitors oriented away from the window. Your pupil react to bright window light and contracts, making it a strain to view the text on the monitors. So you compensate by turning the screens to their brightest, but that create another problem to the eyes when it gets dark outside. In addition, for visitors to your office, the displays on the screens can be a distraction. I don�t know in your line of work whether it is important to provide privacy to the materials displayed. For some businesses that is a legal requirement. Do you have glass wall/door to your office? I noticed that you hang your coat on the chair, and not on the coat hook behind the door. 2. I am sure you have tried to set up your monitors most comfortable to your own preference. To me, it seems the monitors should be about 3" lower. I think that would be more ergonomic. Also, if you stack the monitors there will be less neck issues. Most multi-monitor traders have there monitors stacked (see link below). Where you spend the most time, everything contributes to your general well being. I just checked & LabCorp charged $232 for the test, insurance discounted it by $212 and paid $20 and I owed nothing. (Thank God & dh for good health insurance!) Thanks for the links, I'll be reading additional info, in order to keep up to date on the latest. I will look into the drops. When I was buying a new supply, I did ask a pharmacist the other day about the difference in Vit.D vs D3..... he was "vague" in his answer.... I surmised that he did not know. But I have been using the D3 as I had heard it was supposed to be better. From what I read it would seem impossible to get enough D in food to bring a low level up to "normal". I like fish (Sardines?~~~~shudder~~~~), but couldn't eat THAT much & it is the only food listed that has an appreciable amount of D. Then there is the concern for mercury in fish!

How are you doing? I only needed to take extra calcium for 36 hours. Haven’t experienced any more tingling. I’m taking my thyroid med when I go to restroom between 3-5am and go back to bed (thanks for mentioning that, above). I feel fine but have absolutely no appetite. The last two days I have slept later, but I’m not tired during the day. Will be interesting to see where my numbers are when I go to the Dr next month. I went to my dermatologist yesterday for skin cancer screening, and she gave me a Serica brochure. She said it’s much much better than Mederma. The brochure had a $5 off coupon from Walgreens, and it was already $5 less than on Amazon. It’s only 1oz but a thin, clear gel so a little goes a long way.

Are you taking vitamin D3 or a prescription vitamin D? If it's a prescription, google the name of the med with the term 'side effects, muscle pain' and see what you find.

Vitamin D makes my hip ache.....
