I year ago a friend of mine and I jointly purchased a 13 cane plant from DUNU who delivered it to us in Santa Barbara. I had to sell on of my grand kids to pay for it. I got the numbers of canes wrong in my initial blurb. We split it into 7 cane and 6 cane plants and I won the coin toss and ended up with the 7 cane piece. As I said the last 2 canes were tenuous, leafless and poorly attached to the plant. It took major soul searching but I eventually separated them, they immediately fell apart and I now had 2 sorry looking canes. They sat there for a year and now are sporting a new growth each. Both my main plant and my friend's have a strong new growth and seem to be well on their way. It will take a couple of years until the 2 new plants will be worth looking at but maybe then I can recover some of my cost or make some very strong trades. In the mean time there is another Australian FCC making waves. D spec Yondi Tina Goliath FCC/AOC etc apparently was cloned and the small plants are now on the market. I got one for relatively little and have both the FCCs sitting side by side. The Yondi has 3 juvenile canes and is making a new one. My friend also got one. Because of the cloning I think we will see a lot of them. The Daylight Moon is still much more difficult to get so hopefully my 2 newbies will still be worth something when they are old enough to sell or trade. We have a few D speciosum nuts in Southern California so I'm sure there will be a demand for the plants. I have my eyes on a guy who has a nice collection of Avril's Gold and there is someone in San Diego who also has outstanding D speciosums. I'm keeping ny fingers crossed that the 2 new growths will thrive as that is not always the case. They represent the reason why one should never discard a worth wile orchid piece until it is truly dead. I'm also not a believer in the sphagnum in bag trick. If the cane has neither roots nor leaves, I believe it should be left to its own devices and water will only rot it. I mounted mine without moss or any other media and they got sprayed daily but dried off immediately after. Nick

Just noticed my next door neighbor here in my mobile home park, has a Meyer Lemon tree on her property, ( photo ), just about 45 ft away from where my huge Ruby Red grapefruit tree was. The new location I am tentatively looking at for a 6 ft tall Ruby Red replacement is about 55 ft away from her Meyer Lemon tree. Never quite noticed her tree, didn't think it had anything to do with the citrus greening disease,. She's a snow bird, - I rarely walk over there and she also has a couple of other small trees in between. Question now is, will this Meyer Lemon tree be a conductor/source of the dreaded citrus greening, that destroyed my Ruby Red two years ago ? Her Meyer tree looks fine, about 8 ft tall and has a healthy looking crop of baseball sized fruits that taste fine. ( smile ) Another local here told me her tree could be infested with greening but still continue to look OK and put out lemons, unlike my precious Ruby Red. Curious, I went online and found this : Unfortunately, 'Meyer' lemon is the "Typhoid Mary" of citrus, having been the source of citrus tristeza virus diseases which have the potential to destroy other citrus trees. Sounds ominous,..still consider myself a novice regarding citrus trees and am super cautious after the devastating loss I incurred two yrs ago. Just curious if there are any experts out there who can shed some light,...is a healthy looking, fruit bearing Meyer Lemon tree nearby be a warning sign not to plant a sweet lemon tree anywhere near it ? Hello, my name is Steve and I live in Northwest Louisiana by Lake Bistineau just south of Minden Louisiana. I have 2 huge banana plants that I need to get rid of free. If you live in the area post back here and we will get together and you can come dig them up and take them home. These 2 plants have between 35 and 40 sprouts coming up, grow to between 8 and 10 feet tall. Put out 2 inch bananas and loads of blooms. They are in front of my house and block the view of the lake so they must go. I also have 3 new banana plants, small in front of the house you can have. I bought the house in May of this year and will plant smaller bushes in front that let me see the lake and are less maint. It seems Palms are in this family also. I have round palms. Not sure of the name, type but they have long green skinny stalks that lead to round pinwheel heads that have little white flower/seed pods in the center of them. They grow to 6 or 7 feet tall at my place, They are right in front of the living room windows that look out onto the lake so they must go also. Not sure where to put pix of them but both bananas and palms must go. I also have quite a few flowers that are stalk type flowers, red, yellow, beige that you can dugg up also. All these plants are tall plants. They aren't now, they are bulb and root balls but come dig 'em up there free!

Shhhh...Just between me and you, k? The legs are brown resin with a screw hole drilled in the bottom. Son bought me the correct double-ended screws and it was like magic. Screw one end of double-ended into leg, the other end into bottom of vanity. Another shhhh, K? Searched for almost a year and couldn't find a 24" vanity that didn't take up too much depth space and with a usable drawer. Vanity is a re-purposed microwave cart. Didn't want to lose the utility drawer at the top (with sink hanging inside vanity) so had son reconfigure drawer and glides and put it at the bottom. (gotta have a place for that almighty make-up, doncha know *grin*) Hey, I kept telling everyone I was on a strict budget, now maybe they'll believe me. lol And you are so right, in the grand scheme of things, the quappy work the previous owners did to create a master bath, leaving us with the mess, is a small obsticle when I start to think of the bigger things that could go wrong in other areas of our life. Your post has given me the umph to keep "plugging along"---Thank youuuuu! In fact, I'm printing your post and I'm going to stick it where my new medicine cabinet 'should be' but isn't, yet. lol It will serve as my new "Keep Pluggin' Along" mantra each day from here on out.
