I still can't believe my Mother's gone

Putting up the Christmas tree tonight with the family, thinking this is nuts!My Mother's gone she's never coming back I'm so sick to my stomach I have cried everyday since her death and I'm decorating!!!! Life goes on doesn't it,it's so crazy. People tell me you have to be strong for your kids and Iam. Your Husband needs you and I'm there. But really all I can think about is what a great loss, Why me or really why her. Cancer is so ugly!!!! I will really never be the same person, a part of me went with her.God Bless everyone.

Darzie, I'm sorry you didn't get a reply sooner. Believe me, you have my sympathy, as I miss my mother also. She has been gone 5 years.

How long ago did you lose your Mom? It is a great loss. Our Moms have been with us always, through thick and thin, and then they're gone. It creates a great sadness.

Sometimes it helps to talk to someone, maybe a sister or close friend about how much you miss your mother. Have you done anything to remember her, like start an album of pictures you love, plant a rose bush in her memory? Also if she liked any charities, you can made a donation to them. Do things in her memory, it is very comforting.

Your mother knew you loved her, but I doubt she would want you to suffer so. Keep her memories close in your heart, and go ahead with life. She's gone, but one thing that is never gone is your love for her.

Thanks Susan, I talk to anyone who will listen. I planted a rose bush for her, Put picture ornaments on the tree of her and write to her in a journal every night. She will be gone 9 months on the 21st it really stunks! 60 is way to young to pass. Darlene

Kim, I accept/appreciate the sentiment conveyed in your above post. I continue to feel, though, that if one must use Holy Writ to justify a position OR to instruct others, then it's important (especially given the tenor of our times) to be very sure that whatever divine dictum invoked is quoted with accuracy. With all due respect, I think you've read into the verse you cited something that simply isn't there. That directive & its accompanying promise appear multiple times in both Testaments. In every instance (and in all of the several translations I'm aware of) the adjective modifying "long life" is either "thy" or "your", NEVER "their". So, everybody, we can lighten up and be of good cheer -- God is not going to off mom & dad before their time simply 'cause (like me) you were an insufferable young hellian. On the other hand, as a result of those juvenile trangressions, we maturing delinquents may rapidly (and deservedly?) be approaching our own personal, sadly premature end of days. :-) Since, unfortunately, we're in the mode, I might as well remind the peeved here of the sacred injunction regarding the casting of stones (that would be John 8:7). To any who maintain that they were never in the grips of an irrational snit with a parent (and vocal about it) allow me to say this: Get real. I don't believe a word of it.

My shooting stars have done just that! They are stunning! Virginia bluebells and phlox everywhere. This is about three weeks early on some of the things in my garden. Really can tell the ground didn't freeze deeply and that we've had a very warm spring so far. I have music for you :) Love to see you soon! -Marie

Sympathies on the losses, Beth. I know you love your oddball roses and you're one of the people in the US that has some of these unobtainable roses. It's frustrating to lose track of such things, but as you mentioned you've had a lot else on your mind. I'm glad you are at peace about your mom, but it still has taken a toll in emotions and time along the way. It's good that many of the roses will be replaceable, and I'm sure Burling would reserve some of them for you if needed. Take a deep breath and look at the roses that have SURVIVED and are blooming. For me that's the antidote to the rose carnage we have in cold zones after every winter. I grieve the ones I've lost till I pull the tags and wipe them from my lists, then they aren't staring me in the face to remind me of what isn't there anymore. Sometimes then I can look back at the losses after a year or two and appreciate something I've put in place instead as much or more. I wish I could share cuttings with you to help out, but getting plants in and out of California isn't something one can do on a casual basis I fear. Hang in there and take lots of fabulous pictures of the roses you still have! We'll be watching for them. Cynthia

Oh yes, 60 is too young. I think that's part of why you feel so bad. You probably expected to have her so much longer. Keep doing little things in her memory. She would like that.

This week I used my mother's 32-cup coffee urn to make coffee for a group. You might think it silly, but I just thought, "Mom would be so pleased I'm using her pot!" It made me feel a continuing connection with her.
