please pray for my friend

i am asking for prayer for my friend of about 35 years who just found out she has terminal lung and brain cancer....she has had a very tough life and this seems to be the final blow....maybe if we all pray for her a miracle will happen...she is very synical about life and we have never discussed our beliefs but i feel as if now is the timefor me to share mine with her and let her know how faith can help get one thru terrible times....thank you all for listening....this is such a hard time for me also since tomorrow will mark 3 years since i lost my daughter so if you could say a little prayer for my family i would be grateful..God bless

My prayer is for your friend to find comfort and peace.
My prayer for you is for strength in the coming days.
Tomorrow is a hard day, supporting your friend is hard as well.

Terri, I am real sorry about your dear friend. this is devastating news and i suspect she will depend on someone like you for her strength. i know she also has a daughter and new grandson. we can never explain why things like this happen, but you have been a good friend to her. we will keep her in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

also, i know today is a tough one for you. losing jamie 3 years ago is on all our minds today. you have not been in the forum recently but i actually posted last week about jamie - sorry about that. she has been heavy on my mind.

my thoughts and prayers are with you. your brother will be there tomorrow - hope he can help thru this difficult time.

much love sent your way. between all this and dad facing surgery and your DH having problems as well.....you are a pilar of strength.

OOh, most cool thing, Aggie! I buy the ootheca (egg sac), place it in one of my big bug containers, and just wait! I do this at school with my Kindergartners and it is an awesome thing. Teaches them a lot about PATIENCE because it takes forever for the little nymphs to hatch but when they do...woo-hoo! Around 150+ come out of one ootheca and it is an awesome sight to behold, for sure. So, 'raise them' isn't quite the correct term, I should use here. ;P I give each child several to take home and place in their gardens. I've had kids come back to give me reports of how large their Praying Mantids have grown (or if theirs has died), and whether they've observed them catch and eat any bugs. I've also taught them WHERE to place the insectivores so as not to have them eat any butterflies! We discuss the eating habits as well as 'preying' habits as well. It is a fun lesson for the kids and as you know, kids LOVE bugs anyway. My thinking and reason is this: I feel it is important to teach a LOT of science to children and science has really been taken out of the schools nowadays (at least in California). Gardening is an enjoyable and relaxing hobby as well as way to have your home look nice. Integrating some knowledge about insects and gardening into the school curriculum together with lifecycles (I also teach about plant lifecycles) gets the children to go home and start thinking about their OWN HOMES as well as the community and making the community a nicer place to live for the people and 'wildlife.' Knowledge about insects helps to make them aware of what is a 'good' vs. 'bad' bug (biters vs. non-biters, poisonous vs. non-poisonous, beneficial...) and at the same time, we end up with, hopefully, LESS pesticides being used in the communities and more of the beneficial insects (placed in the areas where there aren't any butterflies, of course!). I always bring home all the extra Praying Mantids for my front yard. :)

Well, thank you, Sally. My son looks like his father, but the other two look like Daddy and are tall like Daddy. Their goal was always to be as tall as grandad. Mary, his bride of 1 1/2 years, takes very good care of Daddy. Mary told me that she always thought it was "funny" when old people married. But then she met Daddy. Isn't that sweet?

Sending you cyber hugs. So, so sorry for your loss. I have a very elderly Mum too and can't even think about how painful it will be to lose her. I hope you soon find peace and healing and I wish you many joyous returns of all the happy memories you and your Mum shared over your lifetime.

Your friend definitely needs all of the prayers she can get and needs a miracle. My prayer for her has been said. It would help to have the first name of a person when we are asked to pray for them.

Terri, I'm just now getting this. I hope your day hasn't been too terribly bad. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and also your friend. I'm so sorry. Maybe you can make a very positive difference in the life she has left.

RESIST THIS TEMPTATION ... a friend of mine refers to it as "vulture Christianity". Be there, support her, but respect her beliefs (and her not believing as you do is still a firmly held belief).

I am so sorry about your friend, Terrizx. My son is in a similar position, he is 30 and it is such a hard thing to deal with. We have to follow his lead as far as what he wants to talk about and how he wants to handle this part of his life. Just let your friend know that you are there at any time of the day or night if she wants to talk.
I am sorry about the loss of your daughter. I imagine that sometimes the grief is just as raw as it was three years ago.Elspeth

Try to help your friend make the most of each day so when her time does come she has no regrets - good advice for us all actually.
