A very special doll story

Several weeks ago My daughter Jana gave me a Christmas wish list for her two year old son little Gary.

One thing she wanted for him was a Cabbage Patch Kid...specifically a

boy with brown hair and eyes. The weekend before Thanksgiving I was

shopping with daughterinlaw Shelly. I found such a little boy but

didn't like his outfit and didn't get him.

A few days ago my husband Gary and I ventured into Kohl's for a short time. I

checked for the right doll and could only find one with brown hair

and gray-blue eyes. I decided to get him because I don't have the

physical or emotional energy to shop for very long.

I didn't even look at the little boy's name. When I placed him on the

counter for checkout I noticed something I could hardly believe. His

name was Aron...one letter off from the name of my dear Aaron who

died. Not only that..his birthday was March 6, and my Aaron was born

on March 7th!

I have not told Jana because I want her to discover for herself. I

have a feeling that she won't mind that his eyes are blue....like our

Aaron's eyes.

This incident was a gift from God and from Aaron...to make me smile

at a time when tears come easily.

What a very special story! It struck me particularly because you have 'little Gary' with brown hair and brown eyes.
Little boys with brown hair and eyes are plentiful in my family, too.

This is the only one we have in our family with brown hair and eyes except his daddy. The rest of us have blue eyes and grandpa Gary has hazel.

Hi I was thinking about the first doll I made, ha ha I was wanting to make one for each of my granddaughters that they could play with, not one to sit on the shelf and look at, so I too went to the local library, found a book from England on making rag dolls. It called for stocking fabric, I had no idea what that was, but finally hit on using single knit fabric, that worked fine, the instructions called for one ball of yarn for the hair, so I used one skein of knitting yarn. I had so much hair that the pigtails on the doll stuck straight out like pippi longstockings. LOL But you know what, the little girls loved them, after I convinced their mothers that they were to be played with, not saved. I remember my first rag doll, my aunt had lovenly made her for me, when my mother cut my long stringy hair, I proceeded to cut the braids off my doll, figuring it would grow back same as mine, Oh what memories you have brought back.

A very sad, sad story

One death is hurtful to the survivors and it adds to the complications when there are mixed feelings including troubles, for it leads to complications in the emotional reactions of the surviving person where there was distance ... but that does not appear to have been the situation with the father. How fortunate that they had decided to resolve some of the issues related to your friend's family and were in the process when this double tragic event took place. I hope that some of the issues had been dealt with satisfactorily before the situation was put on permanent hold. I hope that your friend is able to deal with the death and mourning in a fairly normal way, without extra complications arising from earlier antipathy. There's a message here for us all, I think - when there's been trouble in a family or among friends, it's best to make a substantial effort to get the situation resolved earlier, rather than later ... for later the door of opportunity may be closed for the rest of this life. May God's grace be with your friend and family as they work their way through this difficult period. ole joyful

You have an innate sense of how to do things the right way. Your son is truly blessed to have you two as the parents who brought him up and also a relationship with his birth mother. I credit you for your faith and dedication to do what's right for the most people and you did it well. I commend you. No double your family is your highest priority. The romantic ring story just made it that much sweeter. You're a good person.
