Our Son Jeff Passed Away

OUR SON JEFF PASSED AWAY LAST NIGHT; HE WAS ONLY 40 YEARS OLD.
HE LOVED US ALL AS WE DID HIM AND NOW THE WORLD SEEMS SO COLD

THE SUN CAME UP THIS MORNING TO START ANOTHER DAY
IT DOES NOT LIGHT THIS AWFUL DARKNESS TO HELP US FIND OUR WAY.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS GATHERED AROUND US TO SHARE LOVE AND ALL DID THEIR PART
BUT ALL WE CAN FEEL RIGHT NOW IS THE ICE COLD DAGGER PIERCING THROUGH OUR HEART
THEY TELL US JEFF WOULD WANT US TO GO ON BUT DO THEY REALLY KNOW
HOW WE WILL EVER GO ON WHILE WE ARE MISSING HIM SO
HE LOVED US ALL WITH ALL OF HIS HEART AND NOW THAT HEART IS STILL
WE GO ON EVERY DAY LOVING AND MISSING HIM AND I KNOW WE ALWAYS WILL
BUT NOW OUR LIVES ARE DESPERATE OUR FUTURE IS SO UNSURE
FOR THIS AWFUL EMPTINESS THERE DOES NOT SEEM BE A CURE

WE PRAY TO GOD FOR STRENGTH EACH DAY, BUT GOD SEEMS FAR AWAY
I KNOW THIS IS NOT TRUE AND HE HOLDS US IN HIS HAND
BUT IT IS SO HARD FOR US TO SEE HOW THIS COULD BE HIS PLAN

EVERYONE TELLS US HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN
AND THAT WE WILL BE TOGETHER AGAIN ALTHOUGH WE DO NOT KNOW WHEN
I KNOW WE WILL GO ON FROM HERE BUT I DO NOT KNOW HOW
WITHOUT HIS SMILE HIS LAUGH AND HUGS IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE NOW

IN THE DARKNESS WE WALK EACH DAY WITH THE COLD WINDS OF DESPAIR THAT BLOW
STRANGERS WHO SURROUND US HAVE KNOW WAY TO KNOW
THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO START ANOTHER DAY
THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO CLAW AND FIND A WAY
TO FIND A WAY TO BREATHE, TO EAT, TO GO ON ANOTHER DAY
TO FIND A REASON TO LIVE JUST ANOTHER MINUTE, HOUR, OR DAY

WE KNOW GOD HAS PROMISES AND ON THOSE WE CAN DEPEND
ITS HARD THOUGH WHEN ONE SO LOVED IS TAKEN IN THE END
IT HAS BEEN FIVE WEEKS NOW SINCE WE GOT THAT AWFUL CALL
AND IT MUST ONLY BE THROUGH GODS STRENGTH WE HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR AT ALL

IT SEEMS LIKE AN ETERNITY BUT YET ONLY YESTERDAY
WHEN WE SAID GOODBYE FOR NOW AND JEFF WENT ON HIS WAY
HE WENT TO BE WITH HIS MEME AND HIS FAMILY IN A PLACE WE ARE TOLD IS SO GRAND
BUT WHAT WE WOULD NOT GIVE FOR ONE MORE HUG, LAUGH, OR TOUCH OF HIS HAND
SO JEFF PLEASE KNOW WE MISS YOU AND WE ARE TRYING AS BEST WE CAN
TO CARRY ON THIS LIFE ON EARTH AND UNDERSTAND GODS PLAN
WE WILL ALL TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER UNTIL WE SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE
BUT KNOW WE LOVE YOU MISS YOU AND THAT WE WILL NEVER HIDE

I AM SORRY WE ARE ANGRY BUT PLEASE KNOW IT IS NOT AT YOU
IT ONLY BECAUSE WE ARE HUMAN AND WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO

PLEASE TELL GOD TO BE PATIENT AS WE STRUGGLE TO FIND OUR WAY
WE ARE SO VERY SELFISH AND WISH WE HAD ONE MORE DAY
I KNOW YOU WANT US TO BE ABLE TO SMILE AGAIN AS YOU DID WHEN MEME PASSED
YOU WERE THE KEEPER OF OUR HEARTS AND NEVER WANTED US SAD
YOU COULD COME UP WITH A JOKE, OR A MEMORY OR MOVIE TO MAKE US FEEL SO GLAD
SO GLAD TO BE AROUND IF ONLY FOR NIGHT
WHEN YOU ACCOMPLISHED THAT FOR US YOUR WORLD SEEMED VERY RIGHT

I WILL CLOSE THIS NOW MY SPECIAL SON THE OLDEST OF OUR THREE
PLEASE KNOW THAT WE LOOK FORWARD WHEN TOGETHER AGAIN WE WILL BE.
WHILE LIFE ON EARTH IS SO VERY SAD WITHOUT YOU
YOU COMPLETED OUR LIVES IN MANY WAYS SOME YOU NEVER KNEW
JUST KNOWING YOU WERE THERE WAS ALL MOM NEEDED TO MAKE IT THROUGH
WE LOVE YOU SON AND MISS YOU NOW PLEASE LOOK IN ON US WHEN YOU CAN.

WE LOVE YOU JEFF OUR WONDERFUL SON, AND VERY SPECIAL YOU NG MAN

I am so sorry for your loss and I see how very much you have been hurting. Your poem is a wonderful expression of all of your pain. It shows how very deep your pain, yet your love as well has been. That's the thing. The more we love, the deeper the pain is with our loss. But it's better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all don't you think? It sounds like you have a wonderful family and Jeff was such a good son. And what loving parents you are too. Hugs to you during this time. Thank you for sharing.
Joanie

George, I'm so very sorry for the loss of your precious son. I too know the pain of losing a child. It is a pain that will always be with you. Be good to yourself and grieve the way you need to and for as long as you need to.
The poem is a beautiful tribute to your son and shows the love that you have for him. You will always love him. He will never leave your heart. He will be with you still, even though you can't see him. When we first lost my 19 year old daughter, I felt that she was with me more than ever. In life, she was with me physically sometimes. When she became a spirit, she was with me always and still is.
I know that I will see her again someday. That's my only consolation. I think of her being on a long, beautiful, happy vacation and I will meet her later.
You may want to meet my daughter who knows your son now.
Bless you.
Lu

George, I am so very sorry for you and your family. We lost our eldest son 3 years ago, suddenly, and he would have been forty a couple of weeks ago. Your poem is beautiful; it's clear that you love and miss him very much. If it would help you to tell this forum about your son, you'd have many willing listeners. It may help; I know it helped me. You'll never get over losing your boy, but time will make things more bearable. He'll always be with you and in your heart. Take care...my very sincerest sympathies.
