Pennies From Heaven
Comments (5)Pics... we like pics! Can you post this bizarre "baby cabbage" provider? One never knows what gifts the compost bin will present to us. I start all my spagetti squash in the composter--they get too leggy when I try to plant them "the old-fashioned way!"...See MoreGolden Zest, Heaven on Earth and a few more
Comments (7)Carol, Good question. Golden Zest is NOT always this dark old gold color. In the heat it is just 'plain' yellow. Still very nice and fragrant. From all the roses pictured above, I think I have a few of runners up: Heaven on Earth, Ambridge and Golden Wings. Golden Wings is awesome - although it's a single, but the blooms are huge and when the bush is covered with flowers, it's a beauty to behold....See MoreCanadian- No More Pennies
Comments (14)If you have the ones minted before about 1994, they're almost pure bronze (mostly copper) and worth more than a penny in today's market ... but the ones minted after that are steel with a thin coating of bronze ... so not worth much. On a nation-wide phone-in on Sunday afternoon on our national radio, someone on the prairies said that he'd been making money on his for years: when he needed a washer for small bolt, he just drilled a hole in a penny, as a real washer cost 3 cents! Actually ... I think that it was illegal to interfere like that with government property (and end up stealing it). Currency is only available to us on loan: it ain't ours! If the total of purchases, plus tax, comes to anything at or under e.g. $1.02, it's rounded down to $1.00. At $1.03 and above, it's usually to be rounded up to $1.05. One smart-ass went on a website where they were discussing it to suggest that one deposit $0.03 into one's bank account - that they'd have to round it up to $0.05, so he'd gain 40% ... and I objected, saying that a 2 cent return on a base of 3 cents ... was an increase of 66% ... and that after not having to wait for a year. But... sorry - dealing with the electronic side of things, the rounding-up and rounding-down aren't operational, as the exact amounts can be shown: it's only the physical situation where it applies. So - some are saying that there'll be an increased use of credit (read "debt") cards when making purchases. ole joyful...See Moreso who do we hate more? duracell or JC penny?
Comments (35)I actually do have issues with some sites using Firefox...including at work (Sharepoint doesn't work very well with Firefox...not surprising since Sharepoint is from Microsoft! Figures, right?!) It's either bad or lazy coding...some developers don't want to be bothered to support both, so they take the lazy way out and just code for IE. I've run into this not only in the "outside" world, but even at my company when we're creating webpages for clients!!!! It's not that much more work nor is it that much more difficult...that's why I say it's more about "lazy" developers! (I'm in the IT business, I know!) BTW...Land's End is an example of this. I like their clothing, but I hate using their site! It's only been since they "improved" their site that it's been an issue (a couple of years now.)...See MoreNell Jean
