Our hearts are broken in Western NY. I live less than 10 miles form the crash site; my husband worked with one of the victims - there is not a complete list at this point. The plane hit & demolished a house - the husband (age 61) was killed, the wife, age 57 crawled out from the rubble & lived. She is going to have a terrible time trying to recover - please say prayers for her (her name is Karen Wielinski) her 4 daughters & all the victims. Thank goodness more houses were not hit - the crash site is only one yard - houses are very close by. Very sad.

Yes - that is my Publix - the only store I grocery shop at. Mark was in the back yard and heard the plane sputter and then heard what he described as a big metal door crunching. He came in the house and said "I think a plane just crashed". What?! We went back outside and saw a plume of smoke. I remember saying "I hope it isn't Publix or Lowes." It turned out that it was Publix. :( I am devastated. I run in Publix to pick up a a few things three or four times a week. I only go to Publix. I don't know what I am going to do now. There isn't a grocery store between home and work. The closest grocery store is Walmart and I HATE Walmart. ^^^^ WHINE!!!^^^^ But the important thing is that miraculously no one got killed and only a few got hurt. Another thing is that all DeLand Publix employees are still working. They were transferred to other stores temporarily and I believe that some may even be helping with the cleanup. In these hard economic times it is nice to hear that a large corporation took care of its employees when it could have easily laid them off. Kudos to Publix for that.

The plane stalled out and was not flying anymore. Possiblly the engine lost power or flamed out. I did not see any signs of engine thrust and there should have been gobs of output for that manuveur.

I think I heard on the radio all were killed. Emergency crews responded very fast, and there was no one to save. So sad.
