Thank you for asking. Lulie. Things are OK here...I think we're settling into a pattern of coping daily. The pain of our loss is still sharp, but we look for ways to help each other, and we do find joy in lots of things and events. The joy we feel is always tempered, however, and painful memories continue to poke and sometimes nearly cripple us...and almost always, it happens when we least expect it. We're happy to see spring starting to arrive, but spring brings Mother's day, Millie's birthday (could she possibly have been 9 this May!), and then the horrible anniversary of their deaths on June 17. These are tough, tough days to endure. We see our granddaughter, almost 3, born just 2 weeks before the accident, and she's a great joy. Her mom and dad (our middle son) just suffered a miscarriage a few weeks ago...how we were looking forward to another grandchild. But, they've come to grips with it, and we are trying to also. Blessings to all of you who visit this forum, and I wish you all the best in dealing with your adversities and finding meaning in a life lived after tragedy. I have to admit that Brycesmommy's wonderful news about her Valentine's day twins has brightened my world. She deserves some real happiness.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your baby boy. I also lost a son, when I was 6 months pregnant. It was so sad for us too. He was my 2nd child, I had a three year old son at the time. I now have three living children. I will long for my son all the days of my life and my other children know they have a brother in heaven. They long for him too. I don't know any way to help you through this other than to say what you already know. Sometimes babies just die. And it's not fair. And it hurts so very much. I just take comfort in the fact that EVERY life is meaningful. And God has a purpose for every life. And my son's life had and has a purpose just like your son's life. Maybe it's to draw you closer to your husband, maybe it's to keep your eyes on heaven, maybe it's to prepare you for things down the road, I don't know. I only know that my son lived in my body and he awaits me in heaven. And despite my suffering, I'm so glad he lived. And I will see him again. Someone said here recently that you will be surprised at who is there for you in your grief and surprised at who is not. I found it so true. Some people said the most stupid things to me and it ticked me off. But in hindsight, I know they were just ignorant, and their words were coming from a good place. Other's just don't know what to say if they haven't been through it themselves. I found it helpful to talk about my son. How he looked so much like his brother, his name, even where he is buried. It made his life so much more real and meaningful. I wish you comfort and peace through this journey and I welcome you to write back and tell us all about your sweet baby. Joanie

I just happened upon this site, and haven't ever posted here but wanted to say Congratulations. I thought I could give a view from the other end. My parents lost a baby in 1963. My older brother was just 4 yrs old and vaguely remembers it. I came along in 1965. Anyway, I never met Phillip, but he is still my brother and have always thought of myself as someone with 2 big brothers regardless of the fact that Phillip was gone before I came along. I am now 40 yrs old with 2 children of my own. My 14yr old son's middle name is Phillip. We recently were working on a family tree type project and had to put in the "facts" sheet if he was named for anyone. I know I've told him where his middle name came from but I guess it never registered. So I told him the history to which he replied "Cool, so I'm named after Uncle Phillip". So I just want you to know that Bryce will be forever a part of you and your family and I'm sure your new baby will be every bit aware of his/her big brother as I always have been of mine.
