I lost my mother today and I've never felt so alone.

My mother died from bronchiatis or COPD. She also had Schizophrenia, was off her meds, and refused to go to the doctor. I feel so sad and empty. This shouldn't have happened. I should have gotten her help sooner. I was going to take her to the doctor the next morning . I wanted her to get a good night's rest before I took her to the doctor. I wish I had done so many things differently. Besides the guilt I feel,I just miss her. I can't believe this has happened and I'm never going to see her again. I don't know how to cope with this. I don't know what to do.

The doctors think she had a heart attack. I miss how much she loved me . She was a warm loving kind person. I'll never get over not hearing her voice or her laughter. I miss seeing her and talking with her. I don't know how my family and I are going to get through this.

It sounds like your Mother was a very caring person. I am sorry that you are in so much pain. While it is quite common to review the situation and play the "If only I had..." or the "What if...." try staying focused on the love and friendship that you both shared. I will pray for you and your family and remain confident that in time and with the peace that only God can provide you and your family will get through this part of your life.

Paul, I love to have you paint the view. I'd love to see a picture of your finished work. The mountain to the right in the picture is Bastion and the lake is Shuswap if you're interested. As far as being in zone three as opposed to 4/5, I'm not sure if it makes a difference. Frozen is frozen - right? I think the problem come in with spring freeze/ thaw cycles. We don't normally have these in my experience but 2007 was the exception. I lost about 10 large, mature plants that were in pots. Up to then, I'd been just tipping them on their sides and that has always worked. I don't know what I did wrong, didn't tip them up early enough? Anyway, last year I made much more of an effort to get nearly all potted plants (75+) into an unheated garage. I had always taken the smaller, expensive, newer plants in there but I no longer felt safe leaving any outside. They all came back just fine in spite of the fact that we had snow in the spring after leaves were all up. The trick becomes when to take them out of the garage. Some people have said to wait until late May to be absolutely sure. I have no patience for that so I ended up throwing sheets over them. Maybe you should try with any duplicates you have first. Keep the precious ones protected longer and watch your weather reports. I've been trying to get more and more in the ground but it's a loosing battle I'm afraid. McT

i m so very sorry for you dear...you know one fine day,same thing happened with me and u know what i got a call that my parents have died in an accident..i was not at all prepared and had met them a couple of hours before...this happened on 27th april '08...my younger brother was driving the car ...he is just 24,i m 27 and my mom dad were in their early 50's...today i cant even accept and believe that they r gone..i just keep calling them to talk and all but no body picks call...i keep calling them try to talk to them..it pains so much and i always keep crying....i m not able to believe they r gone and i dont have a family to go to..me n my brother were so dependent on them...I know my dear it is going to be very difficult,it hurts a lot ..mom is a mom then... but try to involve yourself in your family members love them u have DAD...support him emotionally...try to cherish the good moments u have shared together i know its difficuly,for me too it is... i have a BIG blank in my life ...since that say i have sleepless nights and haunting mornings telling me something is missing... but I hope God gives us strenght to carry on...hugs my dear...

My mother passed away April 13th 2022. she raised me and my sister, as a single mother. she worked 2 jobs to ptovide for us, but we took her for granted as children. When the mother of my 2 children passed away in 2016, my mother moved in with us. My mother helped raise my daughter(16 now) and my son(15 now) for almost a decade. My mother was more than just my best friend, she was my only friend. i have complex PTSD, and she was the only one that i trusted enough to talk about the war with… she went with me to the VA, when i had to. she gave me strength, she always seemed to understand things that other people either couldnt or didnt want to understand… my dog died about a month before my mother did… 2022 has taken a lot from me and my 2 children… they saw her as a mother, as much as me… i go from feeling numb to feeling deep sadness and loss… i don‘t want to give up, but i always needed her support. she died from cancer, after being on immunotherapy for 2 years… she suffered from many side effects, for most of her treatment. she became so thin near the end that it was painful to see her like that… i was with her until the end, and it may sound strange but i held her for some time after she died and just sobbed onto her… i talk to her still thst she is dead for months, but i still wake up thinking that she is alive… i beli my mother is in heaven, but selfishly i just want my mom back… i miss my only friend… i miss the only selfless person that i ever met… i feel so empty, and i did not think that id feel so lost… she gave me direction when i didnt know what to do… i hope this posts, it does give comfort to know that i am not a

Hi Cinful...I know exactly what you mean...when the doctors told her 3-6 months left, I thought I would never stop crying, and I didn't want our last moments together to be miserable. I know we said everything we wanted and needed to say to each other, but in the end, I still worry that there may have been something else left unsaid, something I forgot to ask her, or something from the past that we just wanted to remember. We only got about 2 months together at the end, and even when it finally happened it seemed like it just couldn't be happening already. I am sorry that you are alone, I do have children and a husband, but we all lived together, and they really do not understand what I am going through. I feel like I am alone, except that I can't just break down all the time, I have to be strong...it feels like it is killing me to do that though. I really just want to crawl into bed and stay there. The one thing that keeps me going is that my mom asked me to. She told me to be strong for HER, and to be happy for HER. I am not happy, but I am being as strong as I can be. That means not thinking of her too often, or all I would do is cry. But I know she knows that. She bought me a journal at the end, and I didn't think it would help, but it has. I write to her as much as I can, everyday in the beginning, and I tell her the things I would have told her if she were here. It does help. My mom was my everything too...even though I have other family, and children, she was it. Every moment of the day we were together...have been for 42 years. She has sent me signs since she's been gone, I know a lot of people don't believe in that, and think it is wishful thinking, but it's not. Keep an open mind after everything is over, don't shut yourself down. Stay with your mom till the end, try not to feel guilty...I know that even though my mom and I talked about everything, I still felt guilty when she passed, like maybe there was more I could have done. I am trying to get past that. I feel so bad for you, and your dad...maybe try to be strong for him, as I have to for my baby...it helps to be there for someone else, when all you want to do is go with your mom. I know at least for me that is true. When she first got sick, I thought I would go with her in the end, but I cannot go right now. My family needs me, my baby needs me. I think that is why he happened so late in my life...he was my lifeline from God...Take care, please let me know how you are doing, and I will do the same.

It's hard enough to lose a dear one;
please don't torture yourself with "if I'd only..."

You did as much for her as anyone could have, & your mother knew that.

She knew you loved her.

As time goes by, you'll be able to remember her with love & with joy.

I know you don't feel it now, but it will get easier. You will smile again I promise. One day you will feel peace again, I promise. I lost my mom 2 yrs ago. Yes, it still hurts. I cried tonight, out of the blue, because I missed her.But it is the first time in 2 months that I have done that. I have came a long way. I am not where I want to be, but I thank God I am not where I used to be.I am still healing. Please remember this. Nobody, not even God, can fully take your mother away.You will always be part of your mother. You have her genes, her blood, maybe her hands, maybe her eyes, maybe you laugh like her, walk like her. She made you. You were inside of her, and you are part of her, always. You can't get away from that. She is with you everywhere. Go outside, look up at the stars, and talk to her. Find a star, that you connect to, and close your eyes. Connect with her, and she will guide you. She is your angel now.

My God. I lost my mom on 6/25/08. I am still going through the "If onlys".
Your words are like my words. I hope we both get through this part of grief.
I have been going to support groups and it really helps, I don't feel so alone.
No one around me feels like I do and it helps to be with other people who do.

Thank you to all of you who responded to my post. I appreciate the kind words, prayers, and advice. I'm trying my best to get through this. I know that the rest of my family is hurting too but they seem to be dealing with this better than I am. I was very close with my mother. I know that she loved me and probably wouldn't blame me for what happened to her. I have no way of knowing if I had done things differently, how everything would have turned out; but it's still difficult not to blame myself. Right now I'm still in the process of funeral preparations. When all of that is over I'm considering going to support group and perhaps getting a prescription for an antidepressant.

Azure, I am so sorry for your loss. From what you wrote, I can see you were doing what you thought was best. Your intentions were honest and you were doing what you thought was right. You are to be admired for caring, for loving, and for being loved. Please take care.

Azuresky, I am in a similar situation that you were in. My mother died at 56 2 weeks ago. She also had mental illness (schizophrenia) and was afraid to see the doctor. I feel like i should have done more, when i found her there was no food in the fridge. I feel responsible. I should have done more...i hope things are getting easier for you. Because right now i don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I didn't see her as much as i should, and i was always in a rush when i did...i miss her so much.
