Message from my baby

I had a book sent to me from a friend of mine called "Healing Grief" by james Van Praagh. Before even reading any of it i just flipped through the pages and it opened to a page with a poem called "Dearest Mommy". I truly believe this is a message from Bryce so I wanted to share it with you:

Dearest Mommy

When you wonder the meaning of life and love

Know that I am with you,

Close your eyes and feel me kissing you

in the gentle breeze across your cheek.

WHen you begin to doubt that you shall ever see me again

Quiet your mind and hear me,

I am the whisper of the heavens

Speaking of your love.

When you lose your identity

When you question who you are and where you are going,

open your heart and see me.

I am the twinkle in the stars smiling down upon you,

Lighting the path for your journey.

When you awaken each morning

Not remembering your dreams

But feeling content and serene

Know that I was with you-

Filling your night with thougths of me.

WHen you linger in the remnant pain

Wholeness seeming so unfamiliar

think of me and

know that i am with you,

touching you through the shared tears of a gentle friend

easing the pain

As the sunrise illuminates the desert sky

In the breathtaking glory, awaken your spirit

think of our time, all too brief, but ever brilliant.

when you are certain of us, together

when you were certain of your destiny

Know that God created that moment in time,

Just for us

Joanne, this probably is a sign from your precious Bryce.

Joanne Cacciatore was actually the author of the poem in the book.

I really believe it was a message from him...I just started flipping through and it opened right to that page...It brought tears to my eyes but for the first time it was actually good tears knowing my little boy was safe. As soon as my husband got home i explained what happened and had him read it...he just sat down and cried.

I'm not familiar with their germination rate. I grew some about 15 years ago when I worked at a nursery in Vero Beach. They certainly were the coolest looking seedlings and plants I have ever seen. I had the joy of going to a nursery years ago in Punta Gorda that only sold Desert Roses and plants in the Adenium family. It was so much fun to see the different shapes and colors.

Hi Kaotickelly. Who says that's not me, but my son? Yeah, it's my 6' son, so you can get some idea how tall the palm is from the pic. Thanks Alex. Yeah, this past winter is far different than the -45 and -39 temperatures we had about 15 years ago. Last year it got down to -20, which is pretty normal. Denninmi, no hero here... just a guy with some crazy ideas! Islandbreeze, once the Trachys get established, they will really take off. I actually wish it would grow SLOWER! Chadec, I thought the Trachy was a fast grower, but the Washy grows twice as fast. I'm kind of scared of it. Yikes!

Help ID my baby succulents, grown from cuttings

I use chicken grit that is granite chips (the colored grit is some decorative stones that were mixed in). I use mix of grit and perlite and some turface for all my succulents. Aquarium pebbles are usually bigger, much smoother (maybe that decorative grit is aquarium gravel? - not sure) and often colored. Here is photo of chicken grit: Some plants will root faster than others. So it also depends on which leaves you are propagating. I have done it on top of mix of perlite and some C&S soil too, but usually do not bother setting it up like that any more: Here are the same leaves I showed on April 9, that were on a black plastic cover, (I put them on a terracotta saucer) plantlets are bigger now (I didn't do anything with them, didn't water):If I wanted to keep growing them (not sure if I will - have plenty of plants, haha), I would probably put them on top of the mix and sprinkle little of it on top of the roots . It could be also just perlite or pumice if you have some. Or any mix you are using, juts put very light cover.
