Isn't it Weird???

Isn't it weird that even though our lost loved ones are on our minds and hearts almost constantly, for a split second sometimes we think we have to tell them about something or call them or give them something etc.? I did that a lot with Christin and now I'm doing it a lot with Mom. I think our minds know they're gone but maybe our hearts still are in denial or just can't get used to it.

Every now and then, even after 6 years, I'll do it with Chris. Do you all do this too?

For years after my mother died, I would think of something I needed to know and my first thought would be, "Oh, I can ask Mama!" Then I would remember. That finally faded. I still miss her.

No. LOLOLOL. Not that I don't live to do it, but it's not going to be all about the fun this year. I am really getting sticker shock at the market lately. I just told my husband (as I was fying myself a fresh egg sandwich) that mayo was up over three dollars a jar now. The slow/and not so slow climb on the checkout bill has hit red-line as far as I am concerned. I am going to double the size of the garden this year to accomodate a larger corn and melon patch. I refuse to cop out and start buying the pre-made foods they fill with starch and fructose and put on sale......and I refuse to start eating poorer. I have already transplanted four varieties of tomatoes into cell packs to grow on, shallots, chives, onions, brussels sprouts, two kinds of cabbage, broccoli and am starting potato eyes already. All my garden gets a head start on the empty benches in my g'houses before they are jammed packed with flowers around mother's day. When the weather gets right, the tractor comes chug, chug, chugging and in they go halfway to fruition. It's serious business for me this year. We live primarily on a fixed income now and honestly.......it doesn't cost as much to grow your own food as buy it. Some of the stores have those promotional seed racks up now and packets run anywhere from ten cents to a quarter for standard varieties of veggies. For a dollar and some work, I could feed a small army. Michelle, I would not even have the moral stamina to walk into a Jung's seed house. It would be like mainlining.

Yes, itÃ¢ÂÂs looking like I will have to go that route and start over. I have found several fairly reliable brands in faucets I like but not so much in the all-in tub wall mounts w/hand spray in the style I seek. Boy it does get discouraging learning that much of what was good is a bit dicey now in the plumbing fixture department. At least by picking separate components I will not be replacing a whole unit if something breaks. From what IÃ¢ÂÂm reading most of this stuff is now made in China (even well-known brands) and to me grossly overpriced for the quality it is. IÃ¢ÂÂll pay mid-high for something good but not something thatÃ¢ÂÂs a pretty bunch of crap. I miss the old days when there were certain brands you could turn to and know what you were getting. Now itÃ¢ÂÂs a maze.

Hobby, your limequat will put on some good growth now that he is in his own pot. He has more room to grow and will not have to compete for water and nutrients. You did a great job separating and potting up. Great deal.. Ubro, did your red navel come with that name? I believe you have a Cara Cara, as it is also referred to as Red Navel. I have one and it is a beautiful plant. It is blossoming for the first time. I can't wait to get fruit and have that first bite of juiciness run down my chin..I read it is delicious. . :) You have a nice list of citrus. The blooms smell is intoxicating. .

My brother was the great practical mind of the family... he always helped us with wiring, programming the vcr and all things computer. Having him gone is like... we realize how much he contributed, how he showed us his love by the generosity of giving us his skill whenever we needed him. Not long before his death I called him 10 times in one day to ask questions about some hard drives I was formatting. I can just remember his laughing voice, "No problem, cari". But now there are problems everywhere. It's a major, major ... loss, there are so many things he left behind. So many things we don't know how to do. Almost every day I think for a split second... but no, he's one. For the rest of my life, he's gone.

I used to do that all the time. Everytime the phone rang or when someone would be coming up to the door I would think of Lindsey. 2 years ago about a week before her accident my other daughter,Rachael, was in a county homecoming pageant and was in the final runner ups. We tried to phone Lindsey because we knew she would be so excited for her sister. Rachael got second runner up that year but this year she got queen. The first thing I thought of was to call Lindsey. She would have been so proud of her little sis. I was so happy for Rachael but yet I cried for Lindsey knowing that she should have been there with us. Julie

It seems you only realise their worth when they're gone sometimes. When my Gran passed away in 1988 I still thought for some while afterwards "I'll have to tell Gran this or that" and then remember I don't have a Gran any more.

Wow, this just happened to me this weekend. I was talking to my cousin about another cousin and her failing marriage... she has a 2 year old and works a lot of nights/weekends - the first thing I thought of, was have Christy move in with her to help.

Christy is one of their best friends, has been since childhood, she has a 3 year old son, her husband died last July - she died in May.

I just got chills all over when my first reaction was Christy.
