Bittersweet day today

Today's my birthday. My daughter was born on my birthday, so I still have a birthday mate, but it's still hard for me to celebrate without my twin sister. Please keep Neva in your thoughts today - I lost her 5 years ago to cancer.

I can tell you still miss her terribly. My heart aches for you. Sisters are very special, and twins even more so. I hope the day went well.

My thoughts are with Neva and with you. I have trouble with New Year's Eve, which was my late step-sister's birthday, but I can't imagine what missing your own twin must be like. I know you celebrate her life.

Oh, dear -- I'm sorry you've had to go through all that, and so sad the kittens didn't make it. If Jade can't be tamed, at least you've gotten her spayed and you are feeding her. That's lots more than most folks would do.

I lost my Mother to NeuroDementia so I understand what you say about the blessing of passing on. It is a beautiful thing to have good friends you can count on. Both my DH and I have friends that date back decades and it is a blessing to have relationships you can count on in life, death, sickness and health. You should be proud you brought up a child who is the kind of friend who has that kind of friendship!

I have admired Penzeys for years for their open hearted commitment to diversity as well as their wonderful spices. When I first saw the post, I thought that Penzeys was closing for good. I'm so glad they're closing for just the day, and I salute them for honoring Dr. King and the fight he fought for all Americans, not just Black Americans. When Dr. King was murdered, he was getting ready to start a fight against poverty, a problem that is much worse today than when he was alive with the ever widening gap between the 1% and the rest of us. God Bless Bill Penzey and his willingness to put his beliefs in the dignity of all people to the test in the workplace.

I'm sorry, Eva. I hope your day wasn't too bad. How wonderful to have your daughter's birthday on the same day as yours. Maybe there is a reason for that. :-)
Hopefully, it helped you get through missing your dear twin sister as much.

Eva, I knew your birthdays were coming up pretty soon, but I didn't realize that I had missed it. Hope you had some great memories of your sister and happier days with her.
