Emma,
This is my first time on posting a message. I too lost a child on June 4th, 2005.. My only son. He was 31 yrs old. Its a hurt that is with you every minute of every day. Just know you are not alone and are in others thoughts and prayers.. Hope your doing ok.. This last weekend and last few days have been hard..

Hi Brycesmommy and HappySewer,
Sorry for not being able to get back to you both sooner...I was doing what I do best a few weeks ago during a bad thunderstorm (Yakkity yaking on the phone), lightning struck somewhere nearby, and it knocked my computer out of whack for a few weeks. And just for the record, it sort of killed my microwave...it is about 20 yrs. old, so it's gotta go.
I would like to thank you both for writing and sharing your heartfelt thoughts. It truly makes a difference to me, as do so many small things, that people I have never met, would think to write me. I am sorry for you both in the losses of your sons. The loss of a child at ANY age is devastating, as I'm sure you'll both relate to.
Brycesmommy...my thoughts were with you on your day (the 10th of June, right?). I am glad you talk to your twins about their bigger brother Bryce. Never let them forget, as I know you never will either. They are not together on this plane, but will be in the next. Some days, that is the only thought to get me through a day.
HappySewer...often after Erica died, I wondered who else on that fateful day lost a child, the same day as I did. Now I know one other. Please tell us more about your son. I am very sorry for your loss. True, the emptiness never leaves you, never will. I was never the same after my son died, and am not the same since Erica died. Lifes' events change us all, make us into what we are.

My Lady Emma Hamilton has done reasonably well for me here. I like the color and the fragrance. Mine has never had a large number of flowers at any given time. Rather, it has had smaller numbers of flowers, but more frequently. The bush tends to grow wider than tall. It is not a large bush. Lady of Shalott is a monster that has lots of flowers all season, but they fade in the sun and do not have much of a fragrance. If you are considering Benjamin Britten, watch out. This one typically gets 10-15 ft tall in my yard. It has plenty of flowers, but they fade from vermilion to a sort of watermelon pink. I can comment on my long-term observations with my Summer Songs. They do sort of okay if we do not have a late, hard freeze. However, this past summer was the first year that any of them made a half-effort at reblooming. The flowers were small, but at least they were there. It may be like some of the other old hybrid perpetuals that had to be at least 6 or 7 years old before they would rebloom. They can be quite showy in the spring, but they are not like Crocus Rose by any stretch of the imagination.

Ratdogheads, your pictures look great! My summers for the last few years have been pretty perfect with temps in the low 90's here and there, otherwise 80's, maybe a week of bad humidity and unbearable weather. I actually could plant roses all last summer it was so mild, and that is rare. We have been having strange weather for Wisconsin though, milder winters (like this last one) though last year's polar vortex was down to -26 without the windchill. My roses survived it. I'm curious on this year after the mild winter what will stay. I don't uncover till tax day, as we still usually get a frost around the 13th, then it's smooth sailing! I am having a hard time deciding what to prune as the canes are sometimes discolored then green then discolored further down. If it buds, do you keep it or cut it off? If it's totally brown or black I, of course, cut it off. Btw, thank you for showing your zone, I like to be able to see if someone is close to my zone and what they're growing! :) Krista, Wow! I love it between the two purple/pinks. It really brings out the pink. It doesn't look red at all. So pretty! I'm so glad you mentioned the fragrance because that is a must! Thank you!

I just took delivery of a Keeks replica today. I ordered mine on Sunday. Given that the the different options of wood and cushion combinations to choose from I would think that the 8 month lead time you mention may be attriuted to a rare combination that was ordered. Mine is the antique brown leather on palisander. It came in a very securely packaged box and required minimal assembly. Mine had no foul off-gassing smell of the foam that is often reported, and while I'm not an expert on leather, it does seem to be very high quality aniline. I only have two complaints: After sitting in the chair for a few hours the foam does feel a bit firm. This is not a chair that you will just sink into, at least not before it's good and broken in, and I mean VERY well broken in. As I am not a very tall person I bought the standard size, but after assembling and incorporating into my living room, I would definitely recommend the taller version. It's not that it isn't comfortable it just seems a little awkward along with the other, taller furniture. Aside from that, I love it... If don't continue to use it in my living room it will definitely have a place in my home somewhere.

They are out of business in the US. Yes, I know, but the company is still in business and selling over the internet, so it's worth a shot to contact the company to find out if the tile can be ordered for delivery to the U.S. It might not work, but then again it might.

Emma,
Was glad to hear you read my message. This loss of our kids sure does'nt seem to get much easier. My Sons name was Don. He was 31 yrs old. Divorced, with 3 young kids. A son 13,son 10, and a daughter 5. His oldest son now lives with me, he never has been able to get along well with his mother. Having his kids has really helped get through this but I still cry every day. I think one of the hardest things is to see the kids growing up without their dad. He did everything with them.
Don was killed in an ATV accident.. He died on the scent. Thank God for that. He and I talked every day and were very close.. I also have a wonderful daughter who is very good to me. I am truly blessed, but I miss Don so much.
Hope things are going well for you. I know we'er not alone. Its nice to chat with people who understand.

It's good to hear from you. Yes, Bryce's anniversary was on June 10th...Thanks for your thoughts. He would have turned 6 years old on the 23rd of June so that was tough too. I imagine how big he would be now. I agree with happysewer..I don't know how I would have got through without having people to talk to about Bryce..I come here quite a bit just to see how everyone is doing. Thanks again for the thoughts.
