Why is this forum so slow? Marion where are you?

Okay, I come here for inspiration and sometimes to let it out and just cry. How can so much time go by without anyone posting? Where is everybody and give us an update on how you are doing. Please. I need you kind people!

I was wondering the same thing - why is this forum so slow.... I come here for help also - but I have found the Hello from Heaven message board also. It has alot of people who have stories that will inspire you to move on - Yes - we all still need to let it out and cry - but take a look at that message board and let me know what you think. So many people have had great experiences. What keeps me going every day is knowing my Mom - who suffered from depression, diabetes, and arthritis is free from pain and is healthy and in a place of great love - watching over me. Our Mom's don't want us to be so sad - they want us to live life - to love others and do what we can to help one another. I miss my Mom so much and am so tortured by thinking about how much more I should have done for her not knowing she would pass. So I have learned my lesson - and am not so busy with "work" anymore and find pleasure in taking the time to help someone.
So.... if you feel like checking out that board - I would be interested in your thoughts.
Remember - your Mom is with you. Her visit to your sister tells you she is with all of you - and happy and whole - You will be together again - but until then you have a purpose here on earth.

Pete has actually flattered everybody with his use of old meaning of phlegmatic, not the modern perversity associated with sputum ... taken verbatim from the Seer contributor from Cannery Row (also known as Wikepedia) ... do love the oxymoron of "relationship-oriented introvert", one of my sons is like that ... dad's just a hermit. "When the concept of the temperaments was on the wane, many critics dropped the phlegmatic, or defined it purely negatively as the absence of temperament. This, however, made it available for the German philosopher Immanuel Kant to reclaim as the temperament appropriate to freedom and virtue. In the Five Temperaments theory, the classical Phlegmatic temperament is in fact deemed to be a neutral temperament, whereas the "relationship-oriented introvert" position traditionally held by the Phlegmatic is declared to be a new "fifth temperament."

I live in your area, Brizzie, and I can tell you that by and large, Heathen is correct. But once your sage gets going, it can take quite a bit of water and humidity (it has to, here in the subtropics!) - just make sure you give it excellent drainage - it absolutely will not tolerate constantly wet feet. I suggest you build up a mound, and plant it on top of the hill to accommodate those torrential summer downfalls. Don't allow the soil to dry out completely, but make sure it's not soggy. Certainly, it will do better in poorer soil, so don't feed it for at least another year. If you have other Mediterranean herbs like thyme, rosemary, santolina, lavender, treat them in the same way. These are all fairly slow to take off, especially in their first year. Also make sure not to crowd them up too much. In our humidity, they need a bit of air circulation. If your plant is still very small, you might need to protect it from the fierceness of our summer sun a little. Just in its first year, until it toughens up a bit. Once it's up and running and past the infancy stage, it'll take the hottest afternoon sun we can give it.

I have noticed the same thing about this forum being "slow" to put it politely. Part of the reason of course, is because it's the dead of winter--that didn't stop me from fertilzing and liming the lawn a couple of weeks ago. If you think this one is slow, you should see the Metro NYC one! Ironic thing is that this IS the Garden State and even in NYC , many, many home owners take great pride in their often small, but beautiful yards, roof-top gardens, balconies or secret garden patios. I blame the busy, hectic pace of life in the area--we must work longer and harder than anywhere else in the country if not on the planet. I also think we probably live in one of the best areas of the US for gardening. We usually have tons of precip and plants from both more northerly and more southerly zones can coexist. So, we can grow northern conifers and southern palms and the potential gardening choices are enormous! People here though seem overwhelmed by life and don't know how to enjoy it. P.S.:Nice palms, Steve, I have a large collection of palms myself--both hardy and tropicals .

Origin of seeds were from Tomato Fest. ****** There have been a few comments here about poor germination of some varieties from Tomatofest but since the search feature isn't working I can't link you to a specific thread. I suspect the problem might be that the seeds were rather old since they took so long to germinate and are slow growing. If so, they should start growing better soon as they put on more leaves and you can give them a dilute foliar feed of fish or seaweed if you wish. I happened to notice in your picture your Red Brandywine plant and I don't think it's RB b/c the foliage is PL and RB has RL foliage. What was your seed source for the Red Brandywine? Carolyn

well i'm here, i check everyday and haven't seen many posting either, i thought to myself, maybe these people don't like me and they don't want me to post.
it is cold here still in northern canada, the buds are just coming out on the trees. i was going to have a get to gether for Al last year in our backyard, we have this massive apple tree that was his pride and joy, do you know that there wasn't one apply on that tree, it was like the tree knew Al wasn't there, so we didn't have the memorial service. i am still going through the house -- i guess spring cleaning, and donating things. i still am not sleeping well atr night and read till about 3 or 4 in the morning so i sleep until 3-4 in the afternoon, so my schedule is not there anymore. i think i might still be playing catchup, Al was an early riser and me being his caregiver, i think took alot out of me. my car broke down on may 23, our son's 25th birthday, so i ended up getting a new starter, good thing it was still under warranty, but it still almost cost 100.00. to top it off, when the tow truck took my car to the garage, and i phoned to see if it was ready, they couldn't find my car (lol-it's a neon i was hoping someone stole it, but no luck). i got my hair cut and coloured, too feel more human, and i am making myself put on makeup everyday. i have even started knitting again, but i am still so lost.

enjoy the day, i'm going to tend to my pernnials that have been neglected for afew years.
