I will shoot terri an email and get her to log on and respond. last i heard, rickys mouth was wired shut for 6 weeks but he did get to come home. she has had her hands full with ricky being in the hospital, her father having surgery, and if i could throw a little humor in here...forgive me terri...the tree they put up kept falling over during the night with all the ornaments and the water all over the floor. it was a very hectic exhausting holiday for her.

This is evidently still an interesting topic. I almost never call my DS or DIL. I told them at the beginning of their marriage that I would love to hear from them -- whenever they want to call me. (I had an intrusive MIL.) They married one another, not me. With two grammar school age kids and work, they are BUSY. I only hope they have time to talk to one another! (DIL's family is not intrusive either.) DIL never calls me, but will sometimes email me. DS will call every 4 - 6 weeks. He sometimes uses speaker phone so we can chat with the whole family. DIL and I will chat for half an hour if *I* ask to speak with her individually. DH and I love to hear from them, but we have all the time in the world. They don't. It's good to have 'ties that bind' as long as the binding isn't a stranglehold.

Thanks, everyone. Yes, I mentioned the barn quilts here when Terry told me about them, some months before she got sick. It's funny--people comment all the time about the family resemblance, but we didn't look anything alike when we were younger. I looked like my dad, and Terry looked like hers. But when we got older (a lot older), we apparently started looking like our mothers' side of the family. I guess it became quite striking. We were delighted when people said we looked like sisters.

Stacy, thanks for asking! He's still going to his counselor twice a week, and may go into rehab later on for a while. He had a little setback the first of the week, we discovered that he was planning another little "trip", and I searched and found yet another extra car key, and his money stash. You have to be a very sneaky, nosy mom to keep on top of this. Needless to say, he didn't go, and he moped around for a couple of days, but he's kind of back to his regular self now, although he says cravings to gamble consume him. If rehab is what it takes, then we're ready for him to go!

I dunno, I've always taken myself to the ER. I've gone quite a few times with kidney stones and it just adds to my anxiety if a friend/family member has to wait with me 6+ hours. I end up feeling guilty that they have to sit there and that I need to entertain them and I'd rather just enjoy my drugs and relax while I wait for scans and blood results, lol. Maybe he feels the same way. Hope he's feeling better, what a rotten time to be in the ER.

thanks deb that was the icing on the cake...i keep saying it was jamie who kept knocking the tree over because she was mad about what happened to ricky...i think im still in shock to think it happened to him on the 3rd anniversary of her death...he is doing much better..but very sick of shakes and soup but at least he is ok....ill write more when i can thank you all for asking about him....

So happy to hear that, Terri!! Being that we've gone through what we have, I'm sure that just his being home and recovery thus far has been a tremendous blessing for you! Thank God for that!!
