poem needed

The daughter of a woman I work with recently suffered a stillbirth of a baby boy. I'd like to make her a memory candle and put an appropriate poem on it.

Does anyone know of a poem that would work in this situation?

    Dian,the memory candle is a lovely idea. These are three poems I had saved, not sure if they are what you want. Elspeth

    A Special Little Spirit
    ~~~Author Unknown~~~
    "You're a Special Little Spirit," the all great Master said,
    As he gently caressed the curly brown hair of the Little Spirit's head.
    "You need to go to Earth to spend some time, you know.
    A place I send most Spirits to be tested, to learn and grow.
    " The Little Spirit, in sadness, slowly bowed his head,
    And from his eye a tear did steal and down his cheek it shed.
    "Don't you fret now little one, I won't let you stay too long,
    I'll bring you back to help me Here,
    You'll hardly know that you've been gone".
    "You're my choicest Little Spirit, you're the apple of my eye."
    And He wiped the tear and gently kissed His Little Spirit good-bye.
    "I'm back," Little Spirit whispered, as he climbed onto his Master's knee,
    And the Master said, "I told you, you would not be long away from Me."
    And then, the Lord, He noticed still another tear welled in his eye.
    "Why are you so sad, Little Spirit, whatever should make you cry?"
    "I'm glad I'm back," Little Spirit said, "but Master You must surely know,
    When Your Angel came to get me, I didn't want to go. I know You said You needed me and that I'd be gone the shortest while,
    But Lord, couldn't I have had a little longer earthly trial?"
    The Master let Little Spirit slip down from off His knee,
    He firmly took the little hand and said, "Come walk with Me."
    The Little Spirit and his Lord walked slowly hand in hand,
    As the Master explained his special part in the great and marvelous plan.
    "Now Lord, I don't mean to argue, I understand that You needed me Home".
    "But I left in such a hurry, I left everyone hurting and alone.
    I didn't let my earthly parents know how much I loved them so.
    I was much too small to tell them, Lord, how will they ever know?"
    "They feel they've been cheated, and in a way, so do I.
    Not getting to share any more than we did, how can I ever tell them why?"
    "Little Spirit, I know your heart is heavy with this message you need to share.
    I'll send them loving comfort, as a strong and helping hand.
    I'll content and give peace to their aching hearts, so they will understand."
    The Little Spirit looked up at his Master and said "Thank you for explaining it to me."
    And could You please tell them I'm safe and happy and that someday they'll be here with me?"
    "Yes," said the Lord with a smile and a nod, "I'll tell them all that I can."
    Then the others came to see the Little Spirit,
    as the Lord let go of his hand. He said, "I'll tell them you're pure, as pure as Heaven's Gold,
    That I needed the warmth of your perfect soul to keep Heaven from getting cold."
    Fly, fly little wing
    Far beyond imagining
    Pass the planets and the stars
    Leave this lonely world of ours
    Escape the sorrow and the pain
    And fly until we meet again.
    Fly, fly precious one
    Your endless journey has begun
    Soar beyond the sky above
    Upon the wind of Heaven's love
    Cross over to the golden shore
    Where there is peace forevermore
    Hold my memory, light and sweet
    Until we once again can meet.
    Fly, fly, do not fear
    Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear
    Your heart is pure, your soul is free
    Be on your way, don't wait for me
    Above the universe you'll climb
    On, beyond the hands of time
    The moon will rise, the sun will set
    But, Little One, I won't forget.
    Fly, fly little wing
    Fly where only angels sing
    Fly away, the time is right
    Go now, dear one, find the light
    Dearest Mommy
    When you wonder the meaning of life and love
    Know that I am with you,
    Close your eyes and feel me kissing you
    in the gentle breeze across your cheek.
    WHen you begin to doubt that you shall ever see me again
    Quiet your mind and hear me,
    I am the whisper of the heavens
    Speaking of your love.
    When you lose your identity
    When you question who you are and where you are going,
    open your heart and see me.
    I am the twinkle in the stars smiling down upon you,
    Lighting the path for your journey.
    When you awaken each morning
    Not remembering your dreams
    But feeling content and serene
    Know that I was with you-
    Filling your night with thougths of me.
    WHen you linger in the remnant pain
    Wholeness seeming so unfamiliar
    think of me and
    know that i am with you,
    touching you through the shared tears of a gentle friend
    easing the pain
    As the sunrise illuminates the desert sky
    In the breathtaking glory, awaken your spirit
    think of our time, all too brief, but ever brilliant.
    when you are certain of us, together
    when you were certain of your destiny
    Know that God created that moment in time,
    Just for us
    Dearest Mommy, I am with you always.
    What Makes A Mother?
    I thought of you, closed my eyes and prayed to God today, I asked "What makes a Mother?"..and I know I heard Him say",
    "A Mother has a baby, this we know is true"
    "But, God, can you be a Mother When your baby's not with you?"
    "Yes, you can" He replied With confidence in His voice" I give many women babies..When they leave is not their choice. Some I send for a lifetime, and others for a day, and some I send to feel your womb, but there's no need to stay"
    "I just don't understand this, God I want my baby here!" He took a breath and cleared His throat, and then I saw a tear.
    "I wish that I could show you, what your child is doing today. If you could see your child smile with the other children and say...
    "We go to Earth to learn our lessons Of love and life, and my Mommy loved me oh so much, I got to come straight Here. I feel so lucky to have a Mom who had so much love for me, I learned my lesson very quickly...my Mommy set me free I miss my Mommy oh so much, but I visit her each day, When she goes to sleep On her pillow's where I lay...I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek and whisper in her ear, "Mommy, don't be sad today I'm your baby and I'm Here."
    "So you see my dear sweet one, Your children are okay. Your babies are in My Home, and this is Where they'll stay. They'll wait for you with Me, until our lesson is through. And on the day that you come Home...they'll be at the Gates for you!" So now you see what makes a Mother...It's the feeling in your heart. It's the love you had so much of, right from the very start. Though some on Earth may not realize you are a Mother, Until their time is done, they'll be up Here with Me one day...and know you're the best one!"
    The Cord
    We are connected, my child and I,
    By an invisible cord,not seen by the eye.
    It's not like the cord, that connects us 'til birth
    This cord can't been seen, by any on Earth.
    This cord does it's work, right from the start.
    It binds us together, attached to my heart.
    I know that it's there, though no one can see
    The invisible cord, from my child to me.
    The strength of this cord, is hard to describe.
    It can't be destroyed, it can't be denied.
    It's stronger than any cord, man could create.
    It withstands the test, can hold any weight.
    And though you are gone, though you're not here with me,
    The cord is still there, but no one can see.
    It pulls at my heart, I am bruised... I am sore,
    But this cord is my lifeline..as never before.
    I am thankful that God, connects us this way
    A mother and child, death can't take it away!
    I've been attemptimg to think of something for you, finally found this ditty and have changed it a wee bit. HE PERFUMED THESE BLOSSOMS WITH FAITH , HOPE AND LOVE, AND SPRINKLED THEM WITH BLESSINGS AND WATER FROM ABOVE. .....OR: rain from above. Another...... Live your life like a garden. Pull a few weeds, Water regulary, And take it one season at a time. The author of both of these sayings are unknown. I imagined that you wanted something that had to do with water. Hope this helps......AND HAVE SOME FUN TODAY !!
    Just a friendly reminder.....make sure none of these folks have diabetes. If they are in a nursing facility, then they are usually monitored/helped in giving out candy. Otherwise kindness and "sweetness" could turn out to be a critical situation. Didn't mean to take the fun out of giving. I love to give too.
    I'm not good at poetry, but I have fun with it. I combined the old poem with some of your phases and other rhyming. Maybe some else could correct the grammar, choose more appropriate phrases, and make it flow better. Dear City Councilman, Sometimes things don't go so well, And you want to hit the wall and yell. Because you're having a field day, With all the games that people play. After all the complaints and verbal abuse, You feel your very last nerve coming loose. And that joke of a paycheck... Makes you feel like 'what the heck'. But, for your love and dedication Of dealing with the frustration Of what really goes on In dealing with arrogant spawn Here's a little dammit doll That you can't do without. Just grasp it firmly by the legs And find a place to slam it And as you whack the stuffing out Yell, "DAMMIT! DAMMIT! DAMMIT!
    I framed this poem with the only photo of my stillborn son (May 1986), and know it by heart. I am unsure of the origin, perhaps it was on a card or something. Because of this poem and my love for flowers, I have never looked at a rose the same way since then.
    "Little Angels"
    "When God calls little children
    to dwell with Him above,
    We mortals sometimes question
    the wisdom of His love.
    For no heartache compares with
    the death of one small child
    Who does so much to make our world
    seem wonderful and mild.
    Perhaps God tires of calling
    the aged to His fold,
    So He picks a rosebud
    before it can grow old.
    God knows how much we need them,
    and so He takes but few
    To make the land of Heaven
    more beautiful to view.
    Believing this is difficult
    still somehow we must try,
    The saddest word mankind knows
    will always be "Goodbye".
    So when a little child departs,
    we who are left behind
    Must realize God loves children,
    Angels are hard to find."
    A memorial candle is a wonderful idea for your co-workers' daughter...you are so kind to think of such a thing.
    I also liked the above submitted poems...very nice and appropriate as well.
