How should we tell our parents we are pregnant? Should we do this with a gift? Or just tell them?

It might be nice to make it a celebration, invite them over, serve refreshments then make the announcement.

Either way you handle it, they will probably be excited and pleased with your news.

Please tell both sets of grandparents on the same day. Your husband's parents will be every bit as excited as your parents will be.

We "inherited" our grandson when he was 7, he turns 12 in March. We had spent a lot of time with him and he knew our routine so the transition wasn't too traumatic. Still it's hard to have him full time. What we, DH and I, had planned on doing has been put on the back burner for another 6 years. Our time is now dictated by the local school board, again. I dread going thru the "teen" years. He is a really good kid and for that I am truly thankful!! It would be impossible if he were obnoxious and disrespectful. I keep telling him I have 6 years left to make him independent and get him out on his own. After that, we're loading up the motorhome, locking the front door and sending him postcards from the road.

Wishing I had pix - my mother's home is full of lamps made from antiques: a large coffee grinder, wooden planes (the carpenter's type) & several kerosene lamps like the 1 pictured above - a couple have dark green glass shades, which look very nice w/ the brass. My dad made them all back in the 50s & early 60s, when it was all the rage, apparently. My parents did a lot of antiquing back in the 50s - they lived in Long Island & would drive out into the country on the weekend to auctions. Here's a pic(not mine) of what the wood planes look like - the lamps have brass tubing & drum shades covered w/ natural burlap...

I just used el cheapo shop lights before - I don't even know what T12 vs. T8 means... The location is cooler here. Had a tri-level before, so while below-grade wasn't really a "basement". Yea, maybe that made a difference, too. The pic is from last year. I'm disappointed in a few things I grew this year. Love the new boots! But they're too hot to do yard work in. If I have some extra money in the budget, I should splurge on the Muck shoes. For now, will just have to stick to the good 'ol LL Bean slip on garden shoes.

Triplets are pretty rare with deer. Maybe 15% in a healthy population. Never heard of quads but I suppose it is possible. I suspect there are other does around or some of those fawns were orphaned and adopted by those does. Deer are severely pruning my tomatoes this year. They haven't really bothered them much before. Between the Septoria, poor fruit set due to temps in the 90s most of June, and the deer I don't expect to get many tomatoes this year. I have my cukes, beans, beets, and squash in a fenced area so they are safe. They don't bother alliums, asparagus, potatoes, peppers, or eggplants in my garden (so far). I guess it's time to fence in the rest of the garden before next season. I'm glad I put up lot's of sauce and salsa last year to tied me over.

Yup. We had my parents (local) over for Easter dinner and told them during the appetizer course.

We told her parents (non-local) during a telephone call earlier the same day.

We told my in-laws by wrapping up a mother's day gift. It was a grandmother's journal. It took MIL awhile to figure out what the significance was. She just kept saying "but I am not a grandmother". Meanwhile, my FIL eyes lit up because he understood our message. Finally, MIL stops dead and says "Are you pregnant?" and became hysterical. She was so excited. The woman is 66 and has waited forever to become a grandmother. Her daughters are 41 & 43 and won't be having kids, so she was counting on her son and I. Also, my MIL's sister has 11 grandchildren, so she has been feeling left out in that area.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun breaking the news to them.

My daughter just told me that she thought she was pregnant and then I went to the doctor with her. That was 2 yrs. ago and when she came out of the doctors office she was crying tears of joy.

My daughter and son-in-law told us at Christmas. They gave me a gift that when I opened it had the home pregnancy test in it. Duh! At first I had no clue what in the world it was!!

Lets see my DD woke me up in the middle of the night laughing and crying waveing a pee stick in my face...LOL she was so happy she couldnt even wait till morning with the news.. It was a great way to find out .Shareing the news no matter how you do it will be one of the best times of your life no matter how you do it.

Saw this post and thought I'd tell you what we did. I found out I was pregnant right before mother's day in 1997. So I sent "Happy Mother's Day to a Wonderful Grandma" cards to the grandmas. (since mom and dad are divorced, I had to send him something, so I sent a 'World's best Granddad' pillow.

So they all got a wonderful Mother's day present that year, as did I!!!
