Celebrating Christmas Early

Each year we leave for Florida mid-Oct. and every 2nd year we come home for Christmas with the family. However, this is our year for staying in Florida, so we have what we call "early Christmas". We have two grandchildren, 5 and 7, so they still get excited about Christmas. I decorate the house with a few Christmas decorations, we put up a little tree and I buy all the Christmas presents for the family. This year we are having our dinner on Thanksgiving (Canadian). The kids get excited about getting their presents early, we get to see them open them and play with the toys, etc. Also, since kids get so many toys at Christmas, the ones we give them are not lost in the hustle and bustle of Christmas day. We have turkey with all the trimmings. The children are already getting excited and so are we!

RE: Celebrating Christmas Early

One year when my children were small we had plans to go to Disney World in Florida for Christmas. We had our Christmas at home early so the kids could be with grandparents and open all their gifts. It worked out great! And the kids had a great time at Disney World.
