My grandson says....

Hi: I thought you would get a charge out of this story: My grandson is given a lot, but not by me. This particular grandson sometimes says that I "hate" him because I correct him. I don't have a lot of extra money, but I do love the grandkids and like to take them to do the stuff my children thought was fun when they were little. Friday I took this boy and his brother to see "Spy Kids 3D",(at a cheap theater) then brought them to my apartment to play and watch cartoons. (it is very hot here, 100+ daily) We had a simple dinner - then at 8:30 pm we walked to the school playground and played til 9:30. They went right to bed on my floor and right to sleep. (At home they are up for hours). In the early morning (7:30am) we went back to the school playground to play, then went to garage sales just for fun. When I took them home, they said what they always say: We had lots of fun and didn't want to come home... So don't pay attention to what the grandchildren say, just keep plowing on just like you did with their parents. Good luck.

Sometimes just being with the kids for awhile, even watching a viedo for the umpteem time is fun. Reading, letting them read, going for a walk is developing a relationship that will last.

My grand children loved coming to our home. We garage saled and always bought toys, games, etc. One grandson lived 4 or 5 blocks away and he would come over every Thurs, Fri and Sat evening to see what we bought. I also played Nintendo and Atari with them. When their parents would say, "lets go to grandmas", they would ask, "the grandma with toys"???

Also ask the lawyer about the house. Do you have any proof--reciepts and such that show you did put money into the house. Can you go to the builder and get some? Do you have bank records that show how much money you had and when it was taken out? Do you have the papers the lawyer gave you that you signed. If you don't have money to hire a lawyer look into legal aid. Do not feel bad that you are doing this to your daughter. I know it kills a mother, but you have to be strong for the boy. In order to pursue this and not hurt the boy, you have to be as sneaky as she is--let on to her that you don't want to be responsible for the boy. Make sure it is only to her and there are no witnesses. Do notunder any circumstance say anything like that on the phone she could be taping it. If you can ever get the boy alone tell him this has nothing to do with him and you will always love him. Good luck

Sounds like this guy is a real loser!!! He has 8 other kids plus a new one with your DIL? Wow I sure hope she gets him out quickly!! You really need to have a heart to heart talk with her and tell her this guy sounds like hes not for her. Next it will probably get physical hitting ect.... If he won't go she can call the police to remove him and have a restraining order put on in. I hope all turns out well I would be very worried about your grandsons safety. Theres a reason why 8 other women do not allow him near his 8 kids..And I'm sure its not good...

Thanks, Chisue! The dear little guy was here yesterday, looking as sweet and beautiful as ever. He'll be two weeks old tomorrow. He nurses well and goes through the usual amount of diapers, but the pediatrics office says he's not gaining enough weight to satisfy them. I hope they don't ask my DIL to give him formula. This is what happened with my first baby, and of course supplementing reduced my milk supply, so the breastfeeding didn't last long after that. Both my daughters were very low on the weight charts, resulting in frequent conflict with the pediatricians. Both girls grew up healthy and small--just like my stepdaughters, whose body types they shared. The weight charts don't seem to allow for much individuality, and when the doctor wrote Failure to Thrive on my healthy, active second daughter's chart, I was seriously angry. My son was high on the weight charts, so I didn't have any more battles with the doctors. Not about that, anyway. LOL
