Thought I would post an update on this thread too. :-) I'm thrilled to say that the day could not have gone better. Everyone was pretty impressed with what the ladies and I did for the room and for the food. The breakfast burritos were a huge hit, as was the home made muffins. I was surprised that not many of the fresh fruit yogurt parfaits were taken. I had 2 Keurig coffee machines with various k-cups available and this (surprisingly) really âÂÂWow'dâ them! Lunch was Tri-tip, a variation of Church Potatoes, Caesar Salad, Garlic Bread, and Fruit (watermelon & honeydew mixed together). For the Tri-tip, I seasoned liberally with McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning 3 days in advance - a Dry Brining I think. Wow - what a difference! The meat was a bit overcooked, but it didn't matter because of the flavor and tenderness. I had 4 large steaks - probably close to 12 lbs total, and it was all gone. The potatoes & salad were well received too. I was surprised at how much garlic bread I had left though. I purchases Mamma Bella Garlic Toast from CostCo - a product that I really like. The chocolate fountain was a huge hit, as were the mini sandwiches and salad available in the afternoon. What a long day! Up at 4:30 a.m. to be at the school by 6:30. Home at 8:30 p.m. I had some GREAT help which made all the difference. Who knew this could be so much work! I think feeding 80 band kids at a competition is easier than this! But it was fun and I look forward to doing it next year which should be easier now that I have some experience. Thank-you to everyone for all your help and support. Jeri

My sister works in a pharmacy and she said they went from giving 1-2 flu shots/day to about 30/day. She's working 11-hour days. But no one in the pharmacy got a flu shot, even though they can have them for free. She's never had a flu shot and never had the flu either so she's afraid to mess with a winning formula. I have a standing appt with my doctor in a couple of weeks, necessary to get a prescription renewed, and I'm already dreading the exposure to germs in my tiny doctor's office where I usually have to wait forever - in the waiting room or in an exam room. I'm going to tell them I'm waiting in the hallway and they'd better not call me back until they're ready! I had a flu shot in October but that doesn't guarantee anything, although they claim it's a pretty good match for the most common strain showing up around here.

Grammahoney, I just hate the thought of a little one going through this. I always thought I was pretty tough, but that needle in my foot hurt more than that darn chunk of wood did. Just got to love Goofy, huh. LOL The foot is quite sore, but not as bad as it was yesterday. I slept through the night okay. When I got up, I forgot myself and stepped squarely on that stupid foot !! OW OW OW !! But it's pretty good now. I will probably be wearing just a sock on that foot to church tomorrow. I have some pretty ones that go with the skirt and shirt I was planning to wear. DH fixed me for breakfast, Cinnamon toast and orange juice and then asked if he could get me anything else. For lunch, he fixed me a chicken salad sandwich on a wheat roll with a sweet pickle and a handful of Lay's potato chips. I am trying to lose a bit of weight, but hey, you don't get this kind of service every day !! He is BBQing some chicken for supper tonight. I already had some potato salad in the refrigerator and he found some Bush's Grilling Beans in the pantry. Sounds like a plan to me. I have just about finished reading "The Shack", but it's not getting any better. I hate to just not finish a book though. I should have it finished by tonight. Then I can put it down by the wood stove. LOL I think I am going to take full advantage of this and do lots of reading. I keep promising myself that I will take time soon. My friend up the street brought us raspberry muffins and a book for me to read today. It's called "This Side of The Sky" by Elyse Singleton. It sounds interesting. So, it shall be Muffins and a good book and me tomorrow. Ahhh this is the life. I wonder what DH will fix for us tomorrow? LOL Helen
