| I am from Kansas, but have visited Kearny, Nebraska on highway I-80 and enjoyed The Great Platte River Road Archway Monument. It is wonderful. It is a tribute to one of the most historic routes in America. The routes includes the Oregon, California and Mormon Trails,. The Pony Express, Overland Stage, Western Union, Union Pacific, the first Transcontinental Highway and now I-80 have all followed it's path west. It is absolutely amazing. They had to close the highway for 2 hours to put up the main support beams, the rest of it was built while traffic was moving beneath it. Not far from there is Warp's Pioneer Village. It is or was the largest privately owned collection in the USA. It has everything imaginable in it. They have living rooms, bderooms, etc., set up from the 30's, 40's 50's ans so on. You can probably find both of these places on the internet. The Arch is the best man made attraction I have seen in a long time. |
