| Actually, my brother and his wife had an alcohol free wedding. We all thought it was weird to not have champaign available for at least the toast. They served sparkling cider as an alternative. Everybody seemed very accepting of this, but I think there were a couple of reasons this worked for them: 1) Her family is very religious, as a result so were many of the guests. 2) A lot of the guests were elderly and not your average party-drinkers. 3) They had the wedding and reception on a Sunday afternoon, so a lot of people were not as interested in drinking as they might have been at a Saturday wedding. 4) Because it was Sunday and people had to work the next day, the reception was kept relatively short. If it weren't fot those 4 factors, it may have seemed really boring and weird. In the end though, the party is really that of the bride and groom, so whatever celebration they want to have for themselves and provide for their guests, the guests should just accept and be grateful to share in the day. ~Quasi |
