Hello fellow Canucks
Katheleen I just came back from Victoria, my first visit ever to B.C. Had a great time even tho it rained almost everyday, but it was a nice change from the cold and snow here in good old Saskatchewan. Happily married for 16 years, 3 kids, love snowmobiling, cross stitching and the internet.

Hi: I am from St.Catharines which is near Niagara Falls. It is nice to have a connection to share yourself with others.
I am a creative person and will try all kinds of arts and crafts. My favourites are sketching, crocheting, knitting, sewing and creative writing. I have been on the internet for two months and find it very exciting. I am a card and scrabble buff and my husband does not like to do this so I have found people to play in the gaming zone. LOVE IT. It is interesting also to find about other people from different places. Keep writing down your thoughts and likes. I like it.

RE: Canadians?

Hey all!! I'm currently living in St. Catharines Ontario (Judy!! Maybe we're neighbors!!). I've been here for about a year and half. Prior to that lived in Toronto just over 8 years. Moved there from Saskatoon Saskatchewan where I was born. I'm 32 and have two cats and two dogs. The dogs are a recent addition to the house, so the cats are not too happy, but they are surviving!!

I love to do all kinds of crafts...quilting, rubber stamping and whatever else I see that I want to try.

This is a great web site!!

Gee...maybe we should plan a 'rendezvous' with all the Ontarians around the Toronto area...or for anyone who would care to meet up. Always enjoy meeting new people!!

Take care all!!

Janice

RE: Canadians?

"Oh Canada, my home and native land ..." Yes, I am a fellow Canuck who lives in a small farming community called New Hamburg, in Southern Ontario. I am formerly from Alberta, and miss the Rockies VERY MUCH!!!!! The highest peaks around here, are made from cow dung!!!!! I don't think that I will ever get use to the "soupy" air around here, and miss the cool, crisp air, that the Chinook Winds would muster.
I have a husband, who is a real "egghead", (an Astro-Physicist), and two hormone stricken teenagers. Nathan will be turning sixteen on April 19, and Eden just turned 14. Living with two teenagers is like living on a rollercoaster!
We have three, very spoiled cats, named Abigail, Leroy, and Baby Oreo - you guessed it, she is black and white. We also have a "wild" hamster named Wiener. Wiener has chewed her way through two cages, and has attacked all three cats - she definitely is a hamster with attitude!!!

 o
RE: Canadians?

Hi!

I'm in Rainbow Lake, Alberta. I think I get the prize for the "Most Northerly Canadian" unless there is someone lurking here from Yukon territory or the NWT. I am originally from the Red Deer area.....and I sure do miss it.

RE: Canadians?

Hello (Hey) neighbours. I am originally from the interior of BC (Quesnel). I moved to Vancouver when I was 19 and stayed on the lower mainland for 10 years. My family and I then family moved to Vancouver Island near the Comox Valley about eight years ago. We reside on a beautiful lake and live in our dream home. We love it here, but you do have to get used to the rain.

 o
RE: Canadians?

Hi! I'm from Montreal, Quebec, which is not far from Oshawa, and Toronto, Ontario. I love movies, and gardening, and bicycling, and I have a VERY spoiled, loved cat.

I read an idea about a 'rendezvous'. Think it's a great idea, not just for people from Ontario. Bye for now.

 o
RE: Canadians?

I'm orginally from Wawa Ontario but now have lived in Edmonton AB for the last ten years. I usually visit the single life forum since I'm single, actually divorced. I'm 37 and have 3 teenage children. I enjoy music, working out, swimming and socializing with my friends.

 o
RE: Canadians?

Hi fellow Canucks! I was born and raised in Prince George, B.C. (not far from Nancy) and we moved to Edmonton about 3 1/2 years ago. I love it here, but I miss the lakes of B.C. I think it's funny that so many people here think that all of B.C. is like Vancouver, rainy and wet. Prince George and Edmonton have pretty much the same climate. Cold in the winter and you never know in the summer.

 o
RE: Canadians?

RE: Canadians?

Hi folks - I am now the most northerly Canadian to respond to this from Yellowknife, NWT! Its -46 with the wind chill today and winter is doing its thing to us - driving us indoors to do the things we're too busy to do other times. For me, its quilting, crafting, learning new techniques for crafting ideas from this site (craft exchange). I discovered this site three weeks ago and simply love it. We should have a thread on this called 'Canadian interests' or some such thing. My other passion is cruising the net for other crafting-sewing sites. I'm a grandma who is discovering the therapeutic benefits of simply creating. So good to see all the Canadians respond. Happy New Millennium

RE: Canadians?

RE: Canadians?

Hi everyone. I'm from Greely Ontario (about 20 minutes drive from Ottawa). -25 with the windchill today, and no snow..this is so depressing.

I'm almost 48 (next month), 2 grown children, 2 granddaughters - one is 6, other is 2 weeks old!
One orange/white kitten named Moxi.
One husband (2nd time around).
I love reading, some gardening - mind you, I've told my husband if he digs one more flower bed he's going in it!, I crochet blankets - find patterns too fiddly, am going to start tole painting classes in February(already signed up) and I like being outdoors whenever I can.

OH, I was born in Halifax Nova Scotia, and grew up on naval base in Dartmouth.

RE: Canadians?

Surprised no one has posted on this site for awhile. I've been watching "Who wants to be a millionare" and last night one contestant didn't know where the Klondike Gold rush happened--she said United States and lost I think $6-8000, then Regis admitted he thought it was the U.S. as well. Serves them right. Why is it that Canadians are so much smarter than Americans when it comes to history etc. I am sooo happy to say I AM CANADIAN.

RE: Canadians?

Wow, so many Canadians!!! I grew up in (as Homegal says) M.O.N. I too grew up in Haliburton area - lived there for about 19 years. Do I know you???

Since then I have lived in Toronto, Sudbury, Ottawa, and lastly (and permanently!) in Newmarket. I have travelled from one end of the country to another, so I am able to picture a lot of the places listed as home by people here.
We really do have a beautiful country, don't we?

I have a DH & 2 daughters, 9 and 6 and a German Shepherd, 2 years old.

I come from a family of "crafters", everything from quilters, knitters, painters, seamstresses, and my father was a master wood craftsman. Needless to say, I enjoy just about any craft that I have tried, and am very into sewing, painting, and dried florals.

(Homegal, e-mail me if you like and let me know where you are from - did you go to HHSS, and if so, when?)

Hi: I'm from Red Deer, Alberta. Watch your sports on TV as they are going to do a tribute to hockey in the very near future and it will be from our small city. Have lived here for 31 years, so consider this home. Have lived in Ontario, Quebec, and Germany and was born in Saskatchewan. We're all so fortunate to be able to call ourselves Canadian. It's a great country!

 o
RE: Canadians?

Hi from another Canadian. I live in Orleans, which is a suburb of Ottawa, and moved here five years ago from Montreal (the West Island area). Years back I had lived in St. Catharines, Ontario, for seven years. But I'm a Montrealer at heart. It's a fabulous city. I like knitting, hooking rugs, and I used to do a lot of sewing. I made a gorgeous bassinette for my daughter when she was a newborn. It was then used by my former sister-in-law's baby, and then by my two granddaugters. I still have it - maybe one day a great grandchild will use it. I have two cats, one who is a lovable orange cat who has the habit of lying on her back motionless, and a little Siamese who's full of the devil.. I love this site too.

Fantastic: You are the first person I have heard of from Swift Current! I was born and raised in Swift Current. Left there when I was seventeen and unfortunately have never been back. I now live in B.C. on the Sunshine Coast, which is a 3/4 hour trip by Ferry from Vancouver. Used to go out catching gohpers, hiking and camping and fishing off the water reservor. Took a trip to Calgary to see my brother a couple of years ago and the first thing I wanted to see was a gopher!! I have very fond memories of growing up there, except for the dust storms etc.
Good luck on your move and new adventure.
Victor

RE: Canadians?

Hi - I'm a wife, mom and grandma from Victoria, B.C. Took early retirement (disability) and loving every minute of it. Sharing my at-home time with two fat cats and a cuddly pug. Hobbies are garage sales, auctions, reading, surfing the net, and anything else that catches my interest. Love this site! Hi to fellow Canadians everywhere.

RE: Canadians?

Hello everyone! I'm from Moose Jaw (the Friendly City), Saskatchewan. I've been happily married for 23 years now and have one grown son. Oh yes, we also have a fat, spoiled, black and white cat called "Boris". I love reading, pencil sketching, baking, the computer (of course) and genealogy. With my genealogy I not only find ancestors and living relatives I never knew I had, but I have also found a lot about Ontario (where a number of ancestors lived and died)- things like where certain towns, counties and townships are located and what they're like, etc.

My husband's mother also lives in Swift Current and our next door neighbours, that moved here two years ago, are also from there.

It seems likes there are a lot of fat, spoiled cats in this country!?! Take care.....

Hi Everyone

I am Anne from Windsor, Ontario. I am 45 years old. One step closer to the big one! I am single and have been taking care of my mom at home for the last 8 years. She is 79 and has Alzheimers. I look forward every evening to reading these forum pages when everyone else on the block is asleep. I have a black lab Loki and a cat named Lucy. I am an avid cross stitcher and love those hard New York Times crossword puzzles. It was nice to meet you all by reading your posts!

Hi all, Have loved reading about you all. I am from New Zealand and am married with 5 Children and 2 grandchildren. I have a special intrest in Canada as I had a very dear friend from there who came to N.Z. to live with us but sadly passed away from cancer after just 10 months. I have been to Canada twice and LOVE it. Stayed in London & Nova Scotia and visited a few more places. Want to go back someday and see more of your beautiful country.
