I'm in NC, too, but not "stuck" here! I love it. I've always lived in NC and have lived in the NW mountains for several years. I have a terrific view from my back deck, can even see the Blue Ridge Parkway. Very few neighbors, but lots of animals, including deer, skunks, and fox. I wouldn't live anywhere else.

Well, Howdy from Texas. I had to jump in here cuz' I am from NC. wondering about Shelia from NC, she sure does sound like an old friend of mine. Does Niantic mean anything to you? I grew up in Greensboro, lived in Wilmington for many years, traveled and lived several years in the New England area,(BoothBay Harbor ME, Hampton Beach NH, Shelbourne Falls, MA, Niantic, CT.) My husband is in the Nuclear power business and we traveled for several years before getting to TX. Can't wait to get back to the east coast though. BETTY, just talked to my mom and sister today in Greensboro, they say the weather is beautiful today after lots of rain from Floyd. MARY: what area of NC are you "stuck"in. Course, I'm prejudiced, but I sure would love to be stuck in NC again. Maybe someday. I also have family in Wilmington and lived in charlotte for several years. Beautiful state. I love it.

Hi this is Linda from Chesapeake,Va. Sure could have used Betty's post from Feb.'99 on where Mt. Upton was, took me a couple of maps, then tried an internet search, even that took three tries to pinpoint where that town was. Have just reconnected with a classmate that I haven't seen in thirty yrs and that's where she relocated to from down on the island. This is a nice area,15-20 mins. and you can be out in the country . So many nice people on this site .Linda

Hi, I'm in PA, not far from Harrisburg, small town called Etters. I'm having trouble adjusting. We moved from a small town in Virginia called Stuarts Draft. It was so beautiful there, everywhere you looked you saw the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains. Although we only lived in Virginia 4.5 years, I feel it was the most scenic place we ever lived and would love to get back there. This area is just not scenic and I can't get used to the terrible highways, like interestate 83, worst road I've ever driven on. You can't get anywhere without driving on it. It's very depressing.

| Hello in from Shelby,NC about an hour from Charlotte. |
|
| Not sure how many of you are still out there, but thought I'd give a shout out to the East Coasters!! I live in MD - now between Annapolis and Baltimore. I used to live in the more northern part of the state - Montgomery County. All of my friends are moving to NC - mostly to Charlotte. For those of you in the DC Metro area, I've probably passed you on the beltway on my way to work to Fairfax Cty. I've worked in Herndon, Fairfax, Alexandria - twice, and almost moved to Potomac Lakes last year. I was born and raised in DC, and never really fell in love with NOVA. However, not too long ago I visited King George a lot and LOVE that part of VA. I've also lived here and there over the years - Rochester NY, Detroit, among others, and spent almost a year in Windy (Chicago). I spent the most time in Rochester as a child. One Uncle there owned a well known BBQ restaurant there. It went downhill after he became ill and tried to commercialize his BBQ sauce. All 6 of my uncles there are in the NY State boxing hall of fame THEY WERE GOOD!! I have lots of roots on the east coast. I also had lots of relative in NY - Jamaica (near Baisley Park)and Hempstead. However, if I ever get out of here, I'm heading "left", to my dream home in AZ. I would love to move to CA but I've experienced an earthquake and I'm not too sure I want to do that again!! ANYWAY, glad to meet everyone. Home to keep this thread going another couple of years!! |
