The procedure for programming the homelink is as follows:

1) I always make sure the door is down first.

2) Turn the ignition key to run.

3) Press and hold in on the desired button until the light starts flashing slowly. (may take a while)

4) Once the light is flashing slowly, continue to hold the button and put the transmitter right up next to it and push and hole the transmitter and hold it down as well until the light starts flashing rapidly.

5) By this time your door should be opening.

6) Push the learn button on your unit and then go back to the car and push and hold the button you just programmed. (NOTE: you have thirty seconds to do this after hitting the learn button.) Should do it for you.

7) Consult your owners manual your reciever maybe located somewhere other than the console that the homelink is on. Newer Audi's are like this and I am not sure about Lexus.

If you hit the learn button and the keychain remote will not program, you may try a different battery or you may have to take it back and get a new one.
