keypad garage door won't work

I have a craftsman gargage door opener and the keypad is not working to open the door. It just flashes and does not work. The remotes and pushbutton opener work, but the keypad will not work and it just flashes. I tried resetting and changing the battery, but it will not connect to the main unit or do anything but flash rapidly when I press anything. Help

Is it a wireless key pad?
You have to go through the same 'learning' sequence as any other remote to teach the opener to recognize the pad.
