Minimum Space Required Beside Garage Door?

I live in Virginia, Fairfax County. Fairfax County building permit instructions say that all garage structures must comply with Virginia building code.

We are in the design phases of the attached garage, and need to know if Virginia requires a minimum wall space beside a garage door. For example, if the garage door is 16' wide, are we required to have 1' on each side, 2' on each side, or some other distance or no requirement at all besides what the installation requires?

Anyone familiar with the Virginia building code for garages?

I finally got an answer to my question, so I thought I would post it here in case anyone else is searching for this information:

The answer is on page 6:

'Each side of a garage door must have a minimum 2-foot solid sheathed panel.'
